What do you call it then if not selling? Have Liverpool just 'borrowed' him for a few weeks? Has Bent been replaced? The club have had 6 months to plot for a successor and yet we are still formulating plans. You just watch for the Tore andre Flo type signing sometime in August. Panic buying to try and placate the fans.

When I see the 'quality' that is brought in this summer I'll either retract my satatement or will ask you to admit you were wrong.

My glass of eternal optimism was certainly smashed on the rocks of failure many years ago. I now view current situations with a much more 'grown up eye' and I admit much more of cynical stance. However, that comes from seeing this all too many times before. I've been promised jam tomorrow by a succession of owners, chairmen and managers in the last 4 decades and all I see today is a much more acceptable face telling me much the same only with a better delivery. I heard Quinny say we would not be a selling club last close season but since then Bent and Henderson have gone and not been replaced with anything better (or at all for that matter). As I said, to simply hide behind statistics and say we finished 10th, is masking a helluva lot of underlying probs at the club currently. You are living in denial if you think we are a comfortable mid table team now.

I dont see a proactive approach to rebuilding now. By the managers and chairman's own words we are well short on numbers and yet all our main targets are nowhere near being tied up. With so many to recruit, I'd have expected to see at least the free transfers we are after done and dusted - Westwood & Vaughan and Gibson (who only last week said it was time for him to move on) is still nowhere to be seen.

Just what are we actually waiting for? I appreciate that officially the transfer window is not open but it isn't stopping other clubs getting a head start on us. If it was only 2 or 3 keynote signings we were after I'd be much more relaxed. It isn't and I'm entitled to call it that way if I see it so.

Opinions are always welcomed on these boards, so long as its happy clapping opinions. Dissenting voices and fans with different views are verbally abused and cast down. Well, I don't care what Quinn's favourite colour is or where he is going for his holidays, or any other trivial ****e. I want to know what is happening with my club, fresh from a flirtation with relegation again, a god damned awful home record and depleted of 2 of its best players in the last 6 months.

If you dont want to hear some awkward truths pointed out then you'll have to ban me from the site - I'll survive but in the meantime, dont expect me to become a happy clapper just to 'fit in'.

After a few curlers in Banus last night i chose to stay in bed till half 11, at this point i got up, made a brew and a bacon & egg sarnie and went for a swim in the pool.

I had a wee while in the sun, pissed about on the web, then took a drive down to the centre to meet a couple of pals, had a knockout Italian 3 course meal, bought 3 dvd's for 5 euro of one a lucky lucky man, sunk 4 San Miguels, and came back and sat on the terrace watching the first of the aforementioned movies, Hangover II (good in parts, but not as good as the first IMO).

Homesick? Pah...

I really don't v care who is or isn't renewing there card. I've renewed mine. It's a free world and we can chose as we wish.

 

thank you - a bit of realism. even from my days supporting sunderland, and tbh not as long as many here - i've never seen succes. two 7th places under reid i think. and how we did that i'll never know. under SRQ and bruce we've done really well. when has safc done this well year upon year?

 

I'm no happy clapper - just don't expect me to take the alternative supporters view to fit in with you and them - it seems you and MR are guilty of the very thing you accuse me of.

My opinion is just as valid as yours and I have the right to express it and if you want to lower the tone and name call then so be it, having worked in the offshore industry for twenty odd years I have heard it all before, didn't intimidate or impress me then and it doesn't now.
