I wouldn't be surprised either - I think he could develop into a top RCB alongside Sakho. I think we can do better but he's British, young, Rodgers is brilliant at developing young players and I think he would cheap (if Cardiff go down). Medel is mental, but that's the kind of character you need in a squad. I think he's a good player but I would prefer we spent more and got M'Vila or Bender.
He's picked up hardly any bookings this season and only one of them was for dissent/hot 'headedness' which I can remember. He'd have the potential to do a Mascherano type job for you and would undoubtedly improve with better players around him. Should imagine his release clause will involve us getting the vast majority of our £12m back though.
Medel has the ability to play CDM and fill in at CB, like he does for Chile which I like. Could probably fill in at RB too and do a job... although I remember Masch playing there Seems like he'd do the same job at the same standard in any side - and he's very tidy at what he does. Don't think Lucas is much better than him, maybe has a better passing range but defensively Medel is (I imagine - don't have any stats here) better.
what we need, so his disciplinary record isn't that bad then? with masch always felt like even though he gave 100% was always the risk of red waiting to happen. cant say i have watched much of cardiff, so keep an eye out for the player.
Ok, I'm going to be more positive now but if we lose then the jinx is 100% Saints fault!!! I think we will play the same eleven as versus Man Utd meaning Sterling rather than Coutinho and keep the same three in the middle. I also think our defense will continue the clean sheet streak. We will put Cardiff under pressure and score early before winning comfortably by three or four goals to nil.
we going down the route of Coutinho for home games when we are pressing teams and allen etc for away games when we need to be a bit tighter in games and keep hold of the ball a bit better? or this just giving Coutinho some rest.
I say drop Sterling this time around as there will be more gaps for Coutinho to find behind the defence other than Sterling running at them.
lets stop talking about nans or rooney will turn up in the minute demanding to get in on the act ffs.
If Caulker doesn't get wrestled to the floor by Skirtel, he'll score. Kent Walton should have been the commentator at your place. If Zaha stays on his feet, he'll score - we won't get anything if he goes over in the box unless he's got a bullet wound. Noone is bound to score - Gerrard still owes him for his roof. If Bellamy is a bit under par, but he'll hit something even without his putter. If Kimbo doesn't fall over, he'll score - TWICE. (Stevo )
