I AM AWARE THAT VIEIRA WILL NEVER PLAY FOR POMPEY! JUST TO GET THAT CLEAR <laugh>

Player/Coach role? Surely anybody can see that this is an unrealistic aquisition, as his wage demands would surely be too high (damn you City!). Stranger things have happened though, Sheringham played for us.

In a dream world, if it were to ever happen, it would be an incredibly huge transfer, much bigger than the Nolan to West Ham deal, and a real signal of intent from the Crime Scene Investigators (;)). It would also help with further player recruiment, if they knew they were playing in the same team as a player of patrick vieira's status.

Cotterill, Lampitt, CSI board members... MAKE IT HAPPEN :emoticon-0102-bigsm

The person who wrote that article is completely deluded.

    1) Vieira was reportedly to be on over £100,000 at city. We could never afford his wages in a million years, and why after clearing out all our high wage earners so that the club is able to live within its means would we go out and ruin our wage budget and drag ourselves back to where we started - in massive debt! Surely we have learnt from our mistakes but fans can still not see that this is basically how our club was ruined in the first place, by offering players wages that we can not afford to pay.

    2) Why would Vieira even think about coming to us, even if we did offer him a player/coach role, think how many teams would be after him, and why would he want to end his career in the championship. I can see him going to the MLS to be honest.

    3) Do we really need him? We already have Mullins, Ward and now Norris, ok Vieira is/was probably better than them, but we need to start getting players in who are attack minded, who can create opportunities for the team and also someone with pace which is something i feel the team is lacking majorly. Pacey wingers is basically how Reading and Swansea did so well last season, and is vital in the championship i feel.

I totally disagree with this article i don't think a big name signing is needed, especially one who would demand massive wages and at 35 is probably past it.
