This season has seen a good improvement on the last few years. We might still be a couple of players short of winning the title, but overall nobody can deny that this season has been a decent one. We are four points off the top with a game in hand and in the semi final of the FA cup. Our defence in particular has looked really solid. Ramsey had been a revelation until his injury and Walcott was having great season until he got crocked too.

But for me the award has to go to Per Mertesacker, our BFG. He has been an absolute rock in defence. The partnership he's formed with Kos is the best in the league in my opinion. What Mert lacks in pace he absolutely makes up for in tackling, positioning, heading and generally reading the game so well that he rarely gets done for pace. Of course when strikers do get past him, there is the lightening quick Kos to mop up.

He's also a born leader and great organiser of players around him. Such a good personality to have in the team.

Per Mertesacker, take a bow son.

Wojcech Szczesny. The difference between this year and this time last year is just scary.

if ramsey had stayed fit and kept up his form then i think he's undoubtedly up there as well.

its great to have so many players doing well at the same time. in recent years we've had one player carry the team, RVP a couple years back, Fabregas before then. Not since the invincibles have we had this many players having great seasons.

Ramsey, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Szczesny have definitely been the outstanding performers.

    Me too.
I can't separate them they've been so consistently good.

Of the offensive players obviously Rambo and Theo were having great seasons until injury cut them down

Sagna has been brilliant. But the award has to go to the centre-halves. Kos and Mertesacker have been the reason we've done better this season than last.

    Diaby.

Theo cannot be considered surely? He has only started 13 games in all competitions all season.

Our improvement this season is down to AW more than any of the players.

Has to be either Mertz or Kos, but without each other, they wouldn't be as good for us at the back. So I'll be saying both players, as they've finally given Arsenal that solidity at the back that has enabled us to be so consistent this season and made us title contenders.

Honourable mentions are: Ramsey, Flamini (made a big impact) and Sagna per usual.

Yes and no. He's improved our defence and made us more consistent. He brought in both Flamini and Ozil that have made a significant impact on our season. But we've been poor against top level Prem opposition. This could well change if we get positive results against Chelsea and Man City.

BFG for me. I love Kos and as a partnership they're superb but I'd rather lose Koscielny of the two to an injury.

Aaron would obviously have been a candidate based on his form early on. Sagna is also back to his best, Chezzers has started to consistently show how good he could be and Rosicky, for me, is showing us the sort of form that we've been missing out on all these years due to his injuries.

As Piskie said there are areas which need improvement, purchases required and certain players need to raise their game to the ability we know they can hit but this has been my favorite season for years.

Got to add that his jinking run against Montpellier is one of my favorite Arsenal moments for years. Glorious stuff and an inspiration to the ungainly lumps out there... *cough* me *cough*

BFG or Kos, with a special mention to Rosicky, he's been top drawer.

  20. Flamini; not been the stand out performing but he has made you a better team.
