I agree with Nev & Carra, Welbeck made the difference tonight by providing movement to create space for RvP & Rooney. Giggs was superb too.
Tbf JC Rooney earned his corn, he was in defence, midfield and attack for you yet again, the RVP injury looks bad but thank your lucky stars it wasn't Rooney.
I don't think we played well, we were just better than them. Lets not delude ourselves. De Gea was immense, him and Januzaj the only silver linings this season.
Perfectly timing to announce that claim; right after a CL hat-trick, the only player to have got one in the knockout stages too.
It was more rhetorical You saying hope they win it when there's a chance you could finish 4th same as us! I dont expect you to like, was just saying how gutting that would be
We did but I think we would play just as well with mata in behind Rooney maybe even better. Problem is Rooney isn't as good as RVP at putting the ball in the net.
Hasnt Mata been on the wing though? In no 10 you'd see the best of him, he had his best season for Chelsea there didnt he Rooney drops back and helps out the mid centre pair which Mata prob wouldnt do as much though
Mata has been on the wing because Moyes has been trying to fit him RVP and Rooney in at the same time.
They need to get a decent midfield so the no 10 doesnt have to do that. Its totally crazy spending nearly £40m on the best no 10 in England and then sticking him out on the wing where he is about as much use a chocolate teapot.
I think with utd's centre mid struggling this is probably why Moyes has played him there (Rooney), as he is more keen on dropping back and getting stuck in This way I suppose you can see more the reason of Moyes's choice to play Mata on the wing, as at least he's on the pitch Then that all comes back to well did he need to sign him then!
