Probably a good move for all concerned, if true. Oscar will turn into a good player but isn't likely to challenge Morgan, Deano or Chaplow next season.

Seen worse tackles to be honest. Good luck to him. It does sound like NA is making room for the new signings, and there will surely be some not to far off..

I don't think he will turn into a good player. He'll be a journeyman pro in League 1 (which is a completely respectable career), and if he's lucky might get a couple of years in the Championship. He no Oxlade-Chamberlan thats for sure.

It was indicated after the end of last season that a contract was being discussed, so either somethings changed or he wants first team football. If I was a young player, I'd rather play for a good side like Huddersfield than come off the bench a couple of times for us.

He was crap, that Preston game was the only good thing to come from him.

it's clearly his decision, as NC has offered him a new contract, so probably no guide as to possible signings. He wants to play regular football and NA cannot give him that.

I think he'll improve alot over the next couple years, I see this move as a tad short sighted. If we had tied him to a two year contract & sent him out on loan, we would have made a profit. I think we'll be hearing from that young man again at some stage.

If NA can replace him with a vastly better player then Gobern will largely be forgotten. On the few occassions I saw him play I wasn't that impressed, but I probably caught him on a bad day.

No Surprise, I think he realised the writing was on the wall when we signed Stephens on loan. He has the physical attributes, but as has been pointed out, it's game time that is required and we can't afford to blood someone of his ability.

Best wishes to him and I expect him to forge a decent career

It's a difficult call. Our aim is to supply the first team from the academy in the future, but we are trying to compete in the Championship next season. Only the very best players are going to make it into the team. Most will be released (to give them the best chance of getting another team) or sold to recoup the cost of training. I suspect we will get more players coming through once we have recovered from the hiatus caused by our previous money problems.

The trouble is to a certain extent the academy has been a bit neglected over a couple of years. Agreed we have taken a few from the academy but we have not put too much back in. Also agreed there is a couple coming through from the under 16 level they are just a tad early for the first team. So for a couple of years maybe feed through from the academy may be a bit thin.

Ward-Prowse is also better than Gobern. Gobern had no plce in the squad. Expect Ward-Prowse to get some game time this season.

What's happened to Harlee Dean? (never trust someone who can't spell their own name). He's listed in the main squad, but has so far only been on the bench once.

Whisper it quietly, but rumour is he could be the new Tony Pulis.

No, Tony Pulis is a legend<laugh> Does make you think though about success vs. failure rates.

Personally I have high hopes that our Academy will provide us with a few first teamers over the next year or so.

I think you just have to accept that 90% of the lads from our academy are never going to have a career with us. Gobern did better than a lot just to get on the pitch.

If you think of the number who start in the academy, only a handful will make it to the first team though it would be nice if we could emulate ManU's golden generation. As for the rest, the academy is a success if you make money on a few to pay for the academy and set the others on a good path in life.

I will be sad to see him go, any young academy graduate leaving us is a loss to the club especially if he is dropping down the leagues just to get a game.
Understand his reasoning and will wish him well for the future with a good club like Huddersfield
