with relegation now a certainty, town must return all loanees to save money and to use youth as they will have to next season. i fully expect town, with their present chairman manager and coaches to be in Torquays position in march next season.

this is AJ's positive last post until the chairman sells up and a manager and coaching team can do what it says on the tin. it has been lots of fun until christmas, there is no sign of a new badge so thank you Roland for removing one thorn from your foot.

so Floreat Salopia, i wish town all the best but this may prove difficult with the present chairman, management and coaches.

well i have said many, many times in the past, we should be a fan owned club(and got berated for it), for all what little RW as done for us on the gate crowds that we are getting, we should have improved so much. but no, lonees lonees and more loanees...at one point of the season i dint know who was here and whose gone back, but all of them have been a total waste of space and money ...not one fighting tooth and nail for our beloved clip art badge! ......

.....and there is probably a trivia question here somewhere....

"When was the last time someone at this level was 'promoted from within' to actually save a club.....and succeeded?"

As far as Shrewsbury is concerned, no one. Except for Alan Durban, all promotions from within were when the club was in a reasonable league position. Durban failed to keep us up.

    Should Turner go!!
    by atcham jack
there is a large debate happening on the boards of blue and amber about gt's 3 year contract coming to an end at the finish of next season and should it be renewed. i am delighted the majority feel he is doing a good job and that his contact should be extended.

    the main points being

we would have been in L1 if it had not been a poor linesman
gt has lifted the shrews game
has made the club a side to be reckoned with in any cup competition and elsewhere
anyone else could well take town back to the bad old days
it was thought gt should be bringing someone on to succeed him, when he feels the time is right to go

there are many things in his favour, his knowledge of the game and opposition etc

so carry on graham you are doing a great job for the club town and county, and if you have had enough at 80, let rowland know.

    interesting read<sorry>

AJ - 9 games left, 6 winnable, 16 points needed.

Don't give up the ghost yet.

We have been so consistently awful this season it is amazing we are not down already. It would be nice to think we could stay up but at some point we have to score goals to do so and can anyone realistically see that with a strikeforce of the misfiring Eaves and the vanishing man Atajic (if this is Celtic's reserve striker then their league must be weaker than I thought). As usual my heart will rule my head and I will make the trek to Shropshire on Saturday more in hope than anticipation.

so we need a minimum of 46 points, a win tomorrow may be a start. i have no wish to be optimistic, one of my many faults, but a win against bradford would mean rigor mortis leaving the body of harry houdini and giving town a sporting chance.

the budget has delivered roland savings in running his business, he could put this towards a new striker next season. hooray, floreat salopia!

.....what quality of striker will want to join us??? So we have to go 'home grown' or find someone in the depths of some even more obscure footballing county.
Where is the vision? and who's delivering it?
Management training tells one that plans must be SMART.....

    Specific

    Measurable

    Attainable

    Realistic

    Timely

Can we fit these goals (pun intended)? Not a chance this season. Find me a good trainer/coach and we could manage the club over a pint at lunch time (irony)
Let's judge any managers and chairmen against these ideals!!

Offer the money and strikers would come to the club. If there's money to spend then get some decent midfielders to help the strikers perform their role.

Didn't think much of him at half time as he was the shortest of the reserves. Nice to see a win!

I really think atijch should start next game. didn't like it that fans cheered when eaves got subbed. Don't think eaves did either as he turned and looked in the direction of the heckler.

Yes, I also hate to see our own players being barracked even though Eaves is clearly out of form and probably needs a break. I remember constant barracking of Tamika at a game a few months ago (think it was the Coventry game) from one of the club's groundstaff in front of block 13 and I thought that was particularly out of order. After that great result (if not a great performance) we at least have a glimmer of hope but probably need to win at least one of the next two away games to stay in touching distance of the others. I have given up trying to second guess selection and tactics this year but one thing I would really like to see for the rest of the season is players playing in their proper positions - Foley is a case in point - I remember him as a very good wide left player for Yeovil but he is completely clueless played as a central striker . I always shudder when the manager says a player CAN play as a striker - we only have to see Taylor's and Parry's efforts in that position to see why. Atajic is a curious case - when he and Wildig came on the passing was so much better and gave Bradford a lot of problems - why has he been deemed not good enough to start? (even if he can only last an hour).

I'd rather Atajic started and played for an hour scoring/assisting three goals and then being subbed off rather than coming on for ten minutes at the end.

I think Taylor does OK as a striker if he's given a bit of license to roam. Can't cross and never takes his man on, so his pace, workrate and propensity to drift inside and pop up with goals means he can do a better job there than most of the loanees we've tried. For me, though, Atajic has to start. Cut above. Links the play superbly between the lines, and Miller up front ahead of Eaves for whom nothing is working at present. Anyon should be dropped after that howler, too. Hopefully the rest will do Woods some good because we will need him with D. Mac out and Wildig still feeling his way back.

At least we'd have some options on the bench, though, with Wildig and Foley decent options to change it in midfield and JJ an extra defender. Even Eaves might be a useful impact sub as he often starts well before fading after it starts to go tits up.
