I think it is true. If he wasn't popular he would have been fired long ago, and that might have saved us points.
He deserved to be popular, he still is. It's up to the employer to make the decision, though, and up to the fans to support the team. If the employer isn't brave enough to make the right decision that's his own fault.
There were plenty of frustrating moments when the ball went sideways and backwards and the chance to shoot or cross went begging, but at least the players were aiming to retain possession and look for the killer ball. It was a decent performance with plenty of fight and attacking intention.
It's bound to take time, and some players will take to it more easily, like Poyet, whose dad threatened to drop any Brighton players who hoofed it.
I hope we're not but the style of Football I can see us playing under Riga will almost be the Spanish / Barcelona way... By that I dont mean we'll be playing tika taka (or whatever its called) football... Instead we'll pass the ball around on the edge of the box patiently (frustratingly when it gets towards full-time) and try to find the killer pass into the box rather than playing it out wide and trying to cross it into the box
Vol, lighten up. We won. Everyone is happy. Can't we just enjoy the gap between now and Burnley without squabbling? Ps Family troubles, but I may be at the Valley on saturday, the thought of which puts a smile on my face. It's been a while!
Didn't Chrissy Powell do the same against QPR and the play was similar and he didn't have Obika at his disposal earlier despite trying to get him in earlier. Last season Obika gave us a good three wins with his late goals.
Read it on CL. Not evidence as such, but one of their club insiders said that clubs were reluctant to loan players to Charlton while Powell was manager, as he has a reputation within the game for not picking them and messing them about. He went on to say that Obika had said he would not return to us while Powell was manager.
I wondered about that, can't think of any other reason. Obika did have to bang on his door to ask why he'd bothered to get him in, only then did he play him.
Not true. In the summer we kept promising Spurs payments that we could afford with Obika, and as far as the player and manager were concerned it was all sorted. We never came up with the money, and then tried to negotiate to which Spurs got fed up and eventually walked away from. Come this month, he wasn't getting game time (EDIT at Brighton) and he requested to his agent to find him something else - which alerted CP. I just don't think RD was going to give CP the finances to sign him, but that last point is IMO.
I'll also add that Obika held off from a loan to Swindon and the Massives in a hope this loan would go through.
How do you know all that Super? Not trying to challenge it, merely applying the same test as charltonchav did to Vol's explanation
