Im not saying any last ditch tackle is bad, just that that style of defending is.

And as I said, Rio recovered his own **** ups more often than not. Vidic didnt have the pace to get back.

Rio>Vidic imo because of his footballing ability. As defenders they were pretty even.

    Rio
    Stam
    Vidic
    Adams
    Terry

My top 5. Least off the top of my head. Yes, 3 United players. Can you honestly disagree with it though?

Lampard and Gerrard have the advantage of still playing so Scholes' ability and class is based on memory. gerrard and Lampard can still have the odd decent game which brings out all the 'world class, best in the league' stuff.

Scholes was just better. A young Scholes today would be the leagues best midfielder. He would be hailed as englands future, the player who will lead england into the modern game.

In his pomp Ferdinand was one of the best CB's in Europe, no question about it.

Anyone denying that fact, have either had memory fade, didn't see him at the time, or are just plain biased. As despite the fact that he's an objectionable gobshite who has an ego the size of Wales, he was a top, top player in his prime. He's not anymore like...

Being the league's all time top goalscorer from midfield (and fourth overall) means nothing these days...

Yes he was, but there were better out there ;)

Don't think I've seen one person on here dispute that Ferdinand was a very good player.

Helps taking 50 penatlies a year tbh Drogs.

Helps even more when you are your teams only goal threat for most of that time ( drogba being the only actual striker you have had in a decade ).

So no, it doesnt mean much.

one of Tobes, for about 2 years of his career. What's your point, he isn't fit to lace Maldini's boots. He wasn't even the best in the PL for any significant time. Never mind the world. He's a serial ball watcher, always was and always will be. Great with play in front of him, can play a bit, but once you turned him he was not so world class.

Cannavaro and Maldini are up there with, if not the greatest defenders of all time, imo. Both played when Rio did.

Definitely, Carvalho is still the best defender to have ever played in the PL imo, Rio is a very average defender, was always a poor mans Gallas tbh, Vidic wasn't that great either, very dirty and reckless and constantly got skinned, Stam was very good however though and Adams

Nah but what I said was correct.

Lampard and Gerrard both take penalties and in Lampards care he was the number one goal threat for Chelsea over the course of a decade.

So his goal tally is skewed.

He's scored about 50 penalties in his entire career. Nowhere near his goal tally.
