Because last ditch tackles and brutish defending are signs of someone with poor positional and tactical awareness. A good defender doesnt get himself into those positions in the first place. Obviously there are times when it has to be done but the worlds best defenders dont allow such a thing too often. interceptions are just as good as a last ditch tackle except they allow for the possibility of a break way attack. Rio may have been prone to one **** up in every 10000 attempts but when he did, more often than not he recovered it himself using pace. When he lost the pace he became an intelligent CB. He was brilliant last season in his new role after all. We aint going to agree. Vidic was brilliant but old school while Rio was brilliant but very much the definition of a modern defender. If either went to another big league during their prime, Rio would have been the one to thrive. Vidic was very much a british style defender. The british style is obsolete. Thats why everyone is trying to be continental in their play.
3? Saw you'd watched one episode. You got into it then? ! And Purely, I dont know if thats true tbh. I know you've tried to sign him twice and we have never gone after Frank and that sums it up for me mate
They're only 40mins so three was like watching a 2hr film. Yeah, its good. Its a bit like watching the old Batman series TBH
Terry retired from the English land team, because Rio retired and Terry realised he would be found out. maybe
And he would of joined if it wasn't for the pesky scouse mafia Lampard probably didn't want to take a step down in his career
Yes. He is a regular person thats trained to become good, he's a billionaire and he has a security guard (Batman butler) too. Each episode is a different bad guy to target.
In any discussion about Lampard and Gerrard over who is better the answer is and always will be scholes. Even now hes retired, hes better. Leave the lampards and Gerrards to fight it our between the Scott Parkers and Liam Millers.
Torres scored 3 goals against us, in 3 and a half seasons at Liverpool. Vidic had one disastrous game against him, and apart from that Torres has always been in his pocket. That one game I am convinced cost Vidic the PFA player of the year award, but that is pretty much the only stick anyone can beat Vidic with
1. Scholes 2. Gerrard 3. Lampard Gerrard was miles better than Frank. Scholes was better than Gerrard. Easy for Eric
Vivid memory eh? Vidic got sent off twice and hated playing against Torres, he couldn't cope with him
#biasedbullshit Gerrard could have gone to Man Utd or Chelsea and done the job that Scholes and Lampard did, neither would have dragged Liverpool through the mud like Stevie did.
He wouldnt have though. He was so good for you guys because he was the man. he wouldnt have been at United or Chelsea. eric is spot on. 1. Scholes 2. Gerrard 3. Lampard
Sorry man, still think thats rubbish, a lot of time defenders have to make last ditch tackles because their partners have f**ked up, not them. Its a marriage made in heaven for me to have one of each. Hence why the best two PL defences of the last 15 years have been Terry-Carvalho in 05 (15 goals conceded in 38 games) and Vidic-Rio in 08 (22 goals conceded in 38 games). That kinda proves my point. If that style of defender is so bad, why were the two best examples of that type of defender in recent times both part of the best two defences in the modern English game?
No way Gerrard could have done for United what Scholes did for us. None. Gerrard is so good for Liverpool because he loves Liverpool. I don't he'd have been as good for any other team. Liverpool can get the extra 10% out of him that no other club would have got. I believe that Scholes was better than Gerrard just the way that you think Gerrard is better than Scholes. Does that make your view biasedbullshit ?
In terms of the Lampard, Gerrard, and scholes, we will never agree. I personally think Scholes and Lampard were pretty identical players, except Lampard can tackle. Gerrard was entirely different to both. All 3 were awesome in their times in their peak and fit perfectly in to the teams in which they played.
