Just think back to the start of the season - Top 4 for me was an outside chance, I predicted 6th. Now look 2nd in the table and all to play for. At minimum I believe top 4 is definitely ours. WHAT A SEASON LOVING IT. Check this clip... This Is Liverpool FC 2013-2014. A Cinematic compilation of this season so far. Most enjoyable season in my life time for sure (at this stage)! 76 goals, absolutely immense.. 4 past Everton, 5 past Arsenal and Spurs and 3 past Man Utd at Old Trafford.. We are absolutely lethal on our day, under Rafa in the big games I always felt if we were to win it would be by 1 goal margin.. Under Brendan it feels as if we're going in to every match to try and destroy the opposition. I'm trying not to get too complacent by saying we've got top four sown up purely because this is LFC. But, after that 4 year blip does this season prove it was only a matter of time before we were back up fighting again? To have already bettered last season points tally with 27 still to play for is absolutely ridiculous.
I agree with all the comments, but hold off on the end of season DVD for the moment, we've still got 27 points left to play for
Nearly all the way through the season I have thought there is no way we can win the league thinking we didnt have big enough squad but the last couple of weeks I have had fleeting thoughts of we actually could win it this year. Think the highlight of the season for me so far is Flannos goal against Spurs and everyone celebrated with him showed we are team not individuals.
I agree with Sir_Red too. It will be interesting to see how the mood turns when we next receive a defeat, this is the most optimistic and positive I've ever seen it on here which is a big indicator for how well we've been doing!
I dislike Liverpool with all I have, for so many reasons, but (and this hurts) you have really surprised many this season and will actually be challenging all the way to the end. Clearly, fewer games (no Europe - not a dig) has helped, but your squad has significantly improved over the last 18 months. A number of players have come in (£7-£20m range) that have really worked. In previous season, your 1st 11 always looked pretty reasonable, but as soon as you made any substitutions, you worsened considerably. This season, your squad is better. Just goes to show the value that can be established from quality players who do not have ridiculous price tags. A bit like Azpilicueta for us. c. £7m right back, who's playing LB, having ousted Ashley Cole. I'm gutted, because you have a real chance this season. I still think (provided we beat Arsenal at the weekend), that it will be City/Chelsea 1st/2nd (either way) and you 3rd, but I'm not confident we will finish above you like I have been in previous seasons. I would wish you good luck for the rest of the season, but I wouldn't mean it, so I won't.
That was an amazing moment. The whole team were over the moon for the lad #unity. That one moment could be the defining moment of his career, knowing he's fully part of the first team and the players showing they love the lad has boosted his confidence so much. He is now a quality defender, that will hopefully spend his whole career at Liverpool. Plus it was a cracking goal
2008-09 was great for me. We had such a good team and I remember going into every game believing we would win. I've not had the same confidence this season. Maybe that's the issue, previous experiences make me cautious?
Towards the back end of the 08/09 season we were unplayable. From the Madrid game onwards we only dropped 2 points (CL exit aside) to Arsenal? I think I'm finding this more enjoyable this season more enjoyable due to it coming out of absolutely nowhere. Let's be honest, not one of us actually did expect this? Some maybe hoped, even dreamt. If we do secure CL, the hard work really does start in the Summer, it's now our job to stay up there.. New pressures and difficulties altogether.
It's an incredible season isn't it My expectations were: - To improve up on our points tally last season (61) - which we have already surpassed with 9 games to go. - Mount a challenge for the top 4. I just wanted us to be closer to the top 4 than in previous seasons.
Top 4 nailed on now. I await the imminent dismantling of the boring Chavs and the nouveau riche at Anfield.
