id take a point there - bonus with Northampton losing as well! vital to stop the losing route, and again proving what a crucial player josh scowen is for us!
"He's here he's there he's every flipping where Josh Scowen" he breaks up their attacks and gets us going forward we missed him while banned, as the game went on their tactics changed and became more and more long ball we did that a lot when McClure and Craig were up top but when Deano came on he dropped off and held the ball up well, hope Blooms injury he picked up for the pen isn't bad, how Elliott didn't get a straight red when he demolished Kuffour when he was about to score but the ref bottled it and brought it back to the incident with Blooms which he had already waved away Deano scored the pen sending the keeper the wrong way we then had one of our best spells of the game but without getting the winner then for the last 5mins Cheltenham huffed and puffed but without creating any real chances 4mins whet up on the board but apart from a succession of long throws Ingram wasn't troubled and the game came to an end with both sides settling for a point
If 50 points is the target we need 8 more points from 9 games. That would leave: Torquay needing 14 points from 9 games Northampton needing 12 points from 9 games Exeter needing 9 points from 9 games Portsmouth needing 8 points from 9 games Bristol R needing 8 points from 10 games Bury needing 14 points from 9 games Mansfield needing 7 points from 9 games Wimbledon & Accrington needing 6 points from 9 games Looking at the current form table, if we assume that each team will continue their current form in terms of points per game the above teams will end up as follows (all points rounded up): 56 Bristol R 55 Mansfield 55 Accrington 54 Wycombe 53 Wimbledon 52 Northampton 52 Bury 51 Portsmouth 47 Torquay 44 Exeter If we continue at the same rate as our last 6 games (ie finish on 54 points but all other teams manage to clock up at the rate of the most in form of the above (Northampton with 1.5 points per game) the table would end up as: 58 Accrington 58 Wimbledon 57 Bristol R 57 Mansfield 57 Bury 56 Portsmouth 55 Exeter 54 Wycombe 52 Northampton 50 Torquay All academic I know; it's very unlikely that so many teams could average 1.5 points per game but if they averaged 1 point per game the table would look like this: 53 Accrington 53 Wimbledon 52 Bristol R 52 Mansfield 52 Bury 51 Wycombe 51 Portsmouth 50 Exeter 47 Northampton 45 Torquay I haven't looked to see which teams are playing each other but we have only 3 of them to play. If we can beat those we should be safe.
the last 4 games are huge - Bristol rovers and Northampton at home and torquay away. if we can get anything from Fleetwood its a bonus
The Northampton game is on Sky isn't it? We all know we lose when the cameras are there, when was the last time we won a live tv game?
May as well delete it Ron as there are no Sky games for us this season pity as the money would come in handy Northampton game is a 3pm kick off on Good Friday along with another 9 league 2 games only 2 Saturday games that weekend as there is a full programme on Easter Monday
Other than the top 5 or so this division is really tight. In an ideal world Torquay and the Cobblers would lie down and die and give everyone else a comfortable end of season. However, this seems unlikely. If Northampton continue their recent run, since Wilder was appointed, there are so many teams within 8 points of them that they will almopst certainly escape. The question then is who will drop down at their expense. Exeter and Newport (only on 45) points have only picked up 2 points from their last 6 games and are sliding down the table, while Portsmouth and Mansfield have the worst goal difference. Bristol are reasonable at home but struggle away. The reality is that with the possible exception of Torquay all the teams in the bottom half are much of a muchness and I wouldn't be surprised if 5 or 6 different teams drop into the bottom 2 between now and the end of the season (or even during the final match of the season as the scores change). It reminds me of a game of musical chairs - just don't be the one left standing when the music stops. The final game at Torquay - lets hope they are down before then. I'm not sure I'd fancy our chances in a final game 12 pointer.
