Are we having to make a new one in case the Scots vote for independence? Only I heard a part of that was them keeping the pound. They must be ever so wasteful, we've sent millions of the things their way, and they've just the one left. Does anyone know if they keep this pound in a special place, like the stone of scone, or what ever it is?

Apparently it's because the current coin is too easy to copy.

    It's broke, fix it!

The current coin is easy to copy and chances are you have a fake one in your pocket right now.

There are tonnes and tonnes of fake pound coins kicking about and they're quite easy to identify.

Yes we can't have criminals defrauding the public through money creation - the Government and Bank of England have the monopoly on that particular scam.....

The word 'coin' is far too common, it should be the Pound Tiger. Then more people would invest in Stirling.

It's a coin ffs, how can a coin have aesthetic appeal? <laugh>

....& you'll find that it is 'broke' hence the reason they're fixing it, as the old one was too easy to snide....
