After tonight's game and looking at how tight it is now from 3rd to 8th will we make the play offs? And if yes can we win them, and if not who do you think will?
I would say at this point in my evening that I would rather we didn't. I can be arsed regurgitating what I just wrote on the stream thread to minutes ago.
A month ago even I didn't think we could screw that up but with 2 wins in 9, redknapp is sinking to new depths. I'd rather miss out on the playoffs and have redknapp leave and rebuild properly than go up, keep him and sign a whole new bunch of old losers on massive contracts that will see us relegated and set us back years. Of course going up and him leaving is the ideal scenario or him leaving now but I doubt that will happen.
I think we'll scrape it but at the risk of repeating myself, people have got to remember that out of the four that qualify, only one will go up. The talk about Wembley whenever the Playoff's are brought up is weird considering we'd have to knock out another team like Derby or Wigan just to qualify for the final.
Our form is literally shocking - at this time of year that is the worst thing possible. We are the team sliding out of contention - and as Flyer said - 2 wins in 9 is awful for a team in 4th. Wigan were 20 points behind us 18/19 games ago - now they are 4 behind with a game in hand.
Up until tonight I would have treated Flyer's assertions as defeatist, but the mood I am in now, well, I just can't be arsed to worry about it. Getting into the playoff final would prolong the agony - to lose in it the final insult To win it would be more worrying IMHO. We were not ready to go up last time, we sure as hell are not ready to go up this time. Bring in football people at Director level so that TF can be surrounded by the right people to get in the right manager who will get rid of the dross and bring in young gifted players with something to prove and not has beens and fat lazy showboaters living on a couple of good seasons elsewhere. Total rebuild away from all the press and the glare of celebrity players and twitter utterances. Become a normal football club and just bloody get on with producing a decent bloody team
Assuming Leicester & Burnley are 1st & 2nd, two teams out of the next six are going to be disappointed in missing the playoffs. If Wigan were to win their game in hand, they'd be on 62 pts and Brighton could be on 59 pts. It's going to be a real scap to the end. Vital that we get a result against Wigan next Tues, and I mean more than a point. A loss would be a disaster. ................GP.GD.PTS 1 Leicester 35 35 80 2 Burnley 36 28 73 3 Derby 36 17 63 4 QPR 36 12 63 5 Wigan 35 14 59 6 Nottm Forest 36 14 57 7 Reading 36 15 56 8 Brighton 35 11 56
There we go again! Killy, is it just me that realises there's a semifinal to negotiate first and that getting to a final at all would actually be, statistically speaking, a good return from that mini competition?
Highly unlikely No chance You will however start next season on -10 to -15 points after going into admin.
Totally agree with this. We were embarrassing last time and it's looking even worse now. We're not ready to go up yet. This team has no heart and no soul
No, it's not just you, but it would be typical f'in Queens Park Rangers FC to draw the first leg of the semi and then scrap a 1-0 win in the second to give us a day out at Wembley only for it to be totally spoilt by an insipid performance in front of the watching millions, Barton has a mental breakdown in the first half and we get battered 4-0 by Derby and have to watch McBrolly laughing an smiling whilst the twitcher scurries off back down the M3 to his Sandbanks mansion to plan his next holiday whilst I am queuing on Wembley Stadium Station platform in the pissin rain with the rest of us mugs waiting for the Chiltern Line to Sth Ruislip where I will probably walk straight past the pubs and go straight home and kick the dog around the garden. That is why I don't want us to reach the playoffs
Which would actually be a good result from the Playoffs! Only two of the four will make it to Wembley remember!!!
