So you support by numbers, then? Fine, you'll be delighted with the way things are at the moment, by your own definition. Managing by a balance sheet is surely a good thing in your eyes, if all you're concerned about is placement in the league rather than whether the team is there by virtue of their own efforts.

At no point have I said a single thing about finishing markedly higher in the table. However, I think we could do a little better, particularly how poor Man Utd have been, how average Spurs have been and how we should at least be on a par with So'ton and Everton. In addition, we could become far more consistent with better management. Everton, Liverpool have found much more consistency this year. Spurs, who probably should be challenging, had a man in charge many thought poor - AVB - and not many are impressed with Sherwood - yet they're 5th, so what gives? Simple, really, they've been inconsistent and have lacked an identity, it's a common theme. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone saying Rodgers is no good, given what he achieved at Swansea, or saying Martinez is a bit rubbish. Personally speaking, I'd snap your hand off if you offered me Martinez or Rodgers. I doubt many Liverpool/Everton fans would welcome the swap, though, or are they biased??

It's my opinion that Newcastle are currently 9th because there are 11 worse sides in the league, not because there are 8 better sides - does this make sense?

If Rodgers were that good Swansea would be PL champions, he benefits at Liverpool from world class players, if Suarez goes next transfer window he has no replacement and Liverpool lack long term financial potential, Henry is not a billionaire sugar daddy and will want money plus interest back at some point, Martinez is at his best and will not take Everton any further, his record is actually not one of season on season improvement, Wenger has been under fire for a number of years now from Arsenal fans who see a lack of progress, Arsenal are a good team, well financed but not doing much apart from making up the numbers in the top 5/6 premier league teams. Southampton benefited from the vision of a swiss billionaire, they carried on after his death with the same vision and crucially the finance that came with this, his daughter has finally stepped in, she will either look to offload soonest or wait but either way they can no longer expect the cheque book to be open as it was, I think Southampton will return to they mid to low table position from next season as the costs are tightened.

How many managers are there out there currently who have the skills, knowledge and experience to work in the elite leagues, the way in which some of the clubs work and the money that is available through the owners place the managers at the very highest level as almost irrelevant to the performance, it's chicken and the egg, does having the best players in the world make you the best manager or is it because you have the best players in the world that you look so good, as you say no coincidence that the Special One only works where they can pay for the best.

As I say, I more or less couldn't give a fck about finishing 9th by luck rather than judgement. This is the beginning and end of my comment. Would I rather watch Liverpool than Newcastle? As a neutral, 100%. When you play Swansea, what do you face? A clear identity. When you face Arsenal, what do you get? A clear identity. Arsenal fans are only disgruntled because that's the nature of football - if Newcastle finished 4th several years in a row, would all the fans sit there and think "could be a lot worse, mind" or would it quickly turn to "why can't we invest to fight for the title?". Your comment on Martinez is hearsay - he may well take Everton to 4th, I would imagine right now there's more chance of that than Pardew doing the same here - but, again, how have Everton looked all season? Like a team, fighting in every game, playing excellent football. Southampton again is hearsay, you have no proof they'll drop down again. They can go into the Summer, sell Shaw and Lallana for the best part of £60m+ and invest all over again. It's what managing a football club is all about. Meanwhile, our star of the future is on the St Mirren bench.

There's nothing in this world can convince me Alan Pardew is either any good, or the best we can get. I may not be able, under Ashley, to hope for CL football or titles, but I'll be damned if I'm going to allow myself the abject apathy or 'settling' for Alan fcking Pardew.

Pardew is a liability and a waste of space.
Why people try and deny this theory is beyond me

Now you're just being silly. why on earth would any of those guys come to Newcastle to work in the circumstances Pardew has to? They wouldn't. The best you could hope for is to take a young manager from the lower leagues who may or may not work out. Huge risk. Name one low key guy who would come to us and guarantee improvement under the current restrictions i.e. making a profit on transfers. Its a tough ask.

Wenger - Joined a huge club who had a couple of years in the doldrums. Spent a huge amount of money over a 3-4 year period on the likes of Overmars, Vieira, Garde, Anelka, Petit, Llungberg, Pennant, Upson, Boa Morte, Grimandi, Henry, Sukur plus a variety of others. Adding them to the likes Wright, Adams, Keown, Bould, Winterburn, Merson, Platt, Hartson, Parlour, Seaman. Yes his record since in keeping them in the top 4 and developing an already well established youth system has been impressive. He had a canny head start though. Have Arsenal progressed since the money was taken away to pay for the stadium though?

Rodgers - He took over a league cup winning side who had finished 8th. He struggled last year as the club decimated the squad in a rebuilding process but a late run saw them snatch 7th. He still massively spent more than he recouped though with outlays such as Allen 15m, Sturridge 12m, Borini 10m, Coutinho 8.5m. I think he recouped about 12-13m but did make massive savings on wages. Then this year he had another net spend of about 16m. So a net spend of about 40m+ to a squad which had already had huge investment previous to his arrival and was easily a top 8 squad. So he has improved them but he has needed the freedom to buy to do so. Dalglish could not have taken them to 3rd (if that is where they finish). As I say you need players and manager. Would they be 3rd if SAF was still at Man U? Maybe, maybe not because SAF would have spent huge amounts in the summer and got the right players.

Pochettino - Has walked in with probably the best youth system in the country bar none. Spent about 40m on transfers. Aye they are not far off the 8th best squad in the country (the league is not that strong). He has done well and improved on Adkins undoubtedly but lets not get too carried away. He has been well supported to do so.

Anybody against Laudrup (say in the next 0.00092 seconds or your opinion is discounted)...

Look at that, nobody against it... Welcome Laudy! :)

I'm glad that's all sorted... So... Next topic?

A minimal fee in comparison with the one that WP's Pardew Promotion Institution (PPI) picks up at present <whistle>

Say no to being constantly pestered at home on the phone, and yes to sexy personal house visits instead ;)

The Problem with Pardew - Blasphemy!
Should be stoned for thoughts like that.

Go back ten years and replace Pardew with Robson.
Who did we end up with then Graeme F****** Souness.

Laudrup would be a good choice, but alas he probably owes MA f*** all and would be eaten alive in Sports Direct World, ffs he couldn't hack the cosy world of Swansea.
Who else do people seriously believe MA would appoint. Its not a case of who you would like, but who you are given and you can lump it.

    Blasphemy....................

I like Laudrup's style of football so if Pardew was to go I'd be more than happy with him.

Allardyce is supposed to like a flutter, MA might bump into him at the tables and clear his debts off for him.

MA might go a bit upmarket and persuade the Great One to take over from Pards.
