I've heard a rumour that if our name change is successful, Esso are one of the companies looking at sponsoring us. Anybody else know anything?

Wouldn't surprise me, they've got links to the Tiger brand themselves. They also have pots of cash. Well, ExxonMobil do anyway.

The hand actions to "fracked by the tigers" could be interesting.

It could cause misunderstandings in some troubled areas abroad if they relaunch the "put a tiger in your tank" slogan.

Nobody is looking to sponsor us if our name changes. <doh>

I believe our new sponsor is an Asian based bookies and my money is on SBOBET.

    See what I did there?

QPR have just signed a £9m a year kit supply deal with Nike. Surely we should be chasing that sort of deal.

The Esso and Frosties rumours have been doing the rounds for about 20 years. Hull is a really odd rumour place, someone says something and then next thing it's FACT across the whole city.

Exactly, he's called Robin Wilson, ex president of Exxon Mobil and my partners uncle.

Very Clever! I don't want the name to change, it's just something I heard and was wondering if anybody else had heard the same.

Name change argument aside (like we need another one), why wouldn't somebody be looking to sponsor us if the name changes? I only ask because it seems to have garnered a lot of attention internationally and I'm guessing AA hasn't been sat on his backside waiting for sponsors to come to him, so presumably there'd be something lined up for either eventuality? Surely there's going to be a new sponsor regardless of what happens at the club?

Unless it's changed in the last month or so, our new sponsor is an Asian online bookies, who never discussed any name change with us.

Nor has any other individual or organisation looking to invest/sponsor the club.

If anyone is to sponsor us, it's because we're a Premier League football team, who are on TV worldwide every week. The last thing they would want is their brand to be associated with is a name change that the wider football community think is a joke. This whole fiasco may have raised our profile and could create interest, but as Hull City, not as Hull Tigers.

I honestly cannot believe anyone on the entire planet could be so utterly stupid as to believe that there are businesses who are saying they will sponsor us but only if we change our name to Hull Tigers. In theory I am absolutely certain that nobody - nobody - can be that ****ing dim.

Yet you go on the HDM messageboards (other online fora are also available) and there are dozens of the ****ers.

    You couldn't make it up.
