Henderson is still running around Manchester pressing people, traffic, dogs and anything that catches his eye, he was last spotted pressing a double decker bus in Exchange Square.
He's still suspect defensively, and doesn't offer much going forward. Can't be too nice to the lad can I?
A late point about the game: I thought it was very important that Suarez got his goal. He has had a bit of a drought recently. De Gea made a world class save against him before, but it was also a world class chance he created in the first place and he had the look of not knowing what more he could have done. In the context of the game his goal meant little but to him personally and going forward it could be very significant.
He got one against Southampton that was a fortunate deflection into his path too though. Good that he is still scoring despite not playing at his best. Given the choice, I'd have preferred him to have scored the one that De Gea saved considered he created it himself making Jones look a complete mug in the process.
If given the choice to rewrite the game I would have liked his massive lob to also go in. Also, Gerrard should have been sent to the sidelines on the 3rd pen because of a bloody nose and Suarez should have stepped up to score it. The 4th pen should have then been given with Gerrard scoring a hat trick, and then Suarez's chance where he leaves Jones on his face would have gone in for his hat trick... #askingmuch
Gerrard used his experience there. He knew about his nose but also knew he couldn't touch or wipe it as he'd be sent to the sidelines. Instead, he "snotted" the blood on the grass
yeah eh thought for about 2 seconds about wiping it on his shirt and realized the white would be obvious.
2 goals in the last 2 games for Suarez. He's had limited chances to be fair (the De Gea save was world class but Luis should have scored that). I thought SAS were poor in front of goal against Utd - having said that, they were still involved in all 3 goals. It shows you how important they are to this team. Keep them fit until the end of the season and anything is possible.
After 29 games last season, EFC had 48 pts, scored 46 & conceded 35. After 29 games this season, MUFC 48pts, scored 46, conceded 34. #Moyes
#improvement defensively you can only ask a guy to improve year on year so that one goal less conceeded was... bascially gerrard helping him out yeah?
It raises the question - do managers have this internal 'ceiling' within themselves? Even with far larger resources, he is still matching his previous stats. Roy was always a mid table/relegation battling manager - never succeeded at a big club.
that's just luck one extra win, scored less which is interesting but conceded far less. we must ask, yes martinez improved everton but has he really improved them much? it seems the only thing thats improved them is an on loan striker... yet they've scored less than last year!!!
They are not more defensive they just play actual football rather than hoofing it to the opponents. Less possession for opponents means less opportunities to score against them.
Scored and conceded less suggests they are more defensive. Whether you that is being setup in a defensive shape or simply maintaining possession is irreverent, they are a stronger, more solid outfit than last season. PS...is it time to bump this yet?
no moyes just had a rep for being tight. he was actually quite weak at defense a lot of the time and they were inconsistent. in short when jagielka and such are fit the it would be fine but when anything occured it occurred. martinez seems to be able to manage it better.
