dunno we need to give more credit to opponents for upsetting our style sometimes. BUt its effort i look for. If allen and henderson can cover 11-12km v utd they should be covering that much v cardiff and honestly when the CL comes round they need to be covering 12 and 13 kms. Its all about creating partiy of possession making it hard for the opposition, tracking back, not being lazy in giving frees away and not being greedy on 25% chances and making real scoring chances for both of SAS.
The fact that with 9 games to go we are still excited by Cardiff away is a godsend For once we still have something to fight for too I thought Cardiff actually gave a good account of themselves at Anfield so if they play in a similar fashion it won't be a breeze. Howeve,r from what I've seen of them under OGS they certainly haven't improved since then. I feel for the fans but no time for sentiment this weekend. Let's get at them and improve our goal difference even further
Sorry, I'm not buying all this Cardiff will be difficult stuff! Cardiff will be no more difficult than any other relegation threatened club. However when you have 2 characters like Gerrard and Suarez who are dedicating themselves to securing a CL spot and the title if possible then our whole attitude changes. The side is playing well and they now have the confidence in their own abilities. That's the difference. They are no longer frightened of themselves
well for me there's a number of levels to it. 1. we've not gone to cardiff for many years so its an unfamiliar location, trip, pitch and such 2. they didn't really give up against us even though we beat them at so i expect a 90minute effort required. 3 they are desperate so it'll up their efforts 4. it is away and while we just hammered two top 10 sides away we have to go do it all over again So all in all. yeah I think we can win but we all have to respect the task at hand. if we see the level out work being the same as utd from us then yeah we can win easy. if we see less effort thats the only reason to be critical
I'm with dave here. Expecting to win is not showing a lack of respect to the opposition, it's simply acknowledging that we are the better team and we ought to win the game. Nothing is absolutely certain in football, but we all know that and continuously cautioning against complacency is pointless- especially as we're not the ones on the pitch.
Exactly my point. Expecting to win is not complacency. Who's saying they're in the bag? We all know upsets can happen, but warning against them is pointless. We could all scream we're going to win 20-0 but that won't make it happen on the pitch. Neither will it put a jinx on the game and make us lose. It seems to me that every time anyone shows any positivity on here people are queueing up to knock them down, saying that it's complacent. It isn't, it's just realistic.
Equally, saying Cardiff will be tough to beat isn't admitting defeat or dropped points either. Nobody is queueing up to do anything. I could spin that argument round and say no one respects the view of the ones that are pessimistic. its not true though, everyone as their own view and mentality. Personally, I think we will win comfortably but whenever I talk like that we lose so I'll stick to being negative as a sort of superstition. Hence the "bad feeling" comments.
Well, each to their own, and if people want to be "pessimistic" (your word, not mine), that's fine by me. My point was that when anyone says anything positive then others specifically quote them with an added word of caution, the implication being that too much optimism is going to bring the sky crashing down around our ears. This isn't simply expressing an opinion, it's gainsaying those who are positive, so of course it's likely to get a counter-response.
