I know you guys hate the likes of Neville and Evra but with Giggs and Scholes are they hated amongst the majority of you or respected?

The latter is more respected by me from a personal point of view. I respect Giggs for what he's done in his career but not as a person.

Scholes, nothing against him. He's kept himself to himself, out of the limelight and no reason to dislike him, apart from the fact he got away with so many bad tackles just "because it was Scholes".

Giggs, great player but a twat for what he did outside of football.

Don't mind Neville since he's been on Sky Sports. Think there was a mutual hatred between us and him while he was playing but you have to praise the guys loyalty to his team.

Giggs is a dirty person but a good footballer. Scholes is a good person but a dirty footballer.

  7. You won't find me using the word hate when referring to players, managers or even clubs. Far too strong a word.

I respect Gary Neville a hell of a lot more since he became a pundit / commentator. Always thought he was a prick before that. As a player, he was decent but never world class.

There is something about Phil Neville I don't like but appreciate the fact he moved away from the club he loved (Man Utd) to play football at Everton where I think he found his level. My thoughts on him are pretty much "mweh".

Scholes and Giggs have my respect. They are both legends of the game who have acted like perfect professionals throughout their careers. Its a shame that Giggs tarnished his reputation outside of football.

Not sure any of us need to comment on Evra!

In addition, I always appreciated and respect Keane but thought he was a **** of a person.

Purely in a football sense, Beckham probably got my respect the most. He wasn't the most talented but used what he had to the best of his abilities to the point where he was standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the best players in the world. Plus, he wasn't bothered by peoples opinions including managers, he just proved them wrong by training hard and talking on a pitch.

  10. Yeah, I never liked Butt but having watched the short film they did around Christmas, I appreciated him a little more. He was their Roy Keane of the youth teams apparently <laugh>

Like with Phile Neville, I appreciate that he didn't sit at Man Utd and he chose to move on to play matches. Also, my thoughts are "mweh" for him too.

    in short...

garry neville.. never had an issue with him really. if a guy wants to go do what he did, its fairly harmless... being an ardent manc is not a crime. I would say he's under rated by LFC fans as an RB really. good player. great pundit

Evra, liar, cheat and he's been found out royally in france. he's hated as much in his own country as he is everywhere but in salford and surrey.

Giggs.. bascially he's a lowlife for what he did off the field. On the field he's a great player and legendary player too boot.

Scholes. Great player, useless tackler. far too looked after by english refs frankly but a truely great player and a solid decent human being too boot.

I don't hate anyone. I've more respect for garry neville than ryan giggs based on purely morals... i'd not put giggs as low as john terry mind but i'd have zero respect for him.

Evra is a guy who's going to live in his own fantasy world for life so there's no point wasting breath on him. he is very likely to wlak himself into more issues over time and play the victim card again.

Of course, one doesn't know the guys personally, so my judgement is purely on what I do know (seeing them play football, and now in some cases talk football), on that basis..
Neville, prob. best right back in the country from late 90s to the mid 2000s, yeah he was a born and breed manc and didn't like us, no problem with that, as a pundit, he's top notch, very little Wumming, calls it as he sees it!
Scholes, loved him as a player, couldn't tackle for ****e but the rest of the game was truly world class!
Giggs, again, don't wish to comment on his off the field antics but on the pitch, prob. go down as the greatest player to have played in the PL.
Evra, was a decent LB when he first came but he's been past it for a while now, I'll bite my tongue with regards to commenting on him as a person...

I respect Beckham as a professional and as a human - but never as a footballer. Possibly the most overrated player in the history of the game and for him to be playing in some of the biggest clubs in the world, alongside the best players makes me sick.

The only reason so many big clubs were after was because of his image and brand. Certainly not for his ability as a footballer.

  15. So how come he got dropped and told he'd never play for Real Madrid or England again only to force his way back in? You can't do that by being ****!

Really disagree with you there Jimmy. I think Beckham was a class football but got a lot of **** because of his brand.

He wasn't world class but he was very, very good imo.

Moyes is hated so much by the Utd players they use him as target practice.

Helped to invent the "whipped ping" Beckham did. His delivery and his service, ability to pass a ball was incredible. I do think overrated at times but certainly not gash!

He's still actually trying to tackle Sturiddge. He's genuinely that slow :(
