RVP had no problems with Wenger or Ferguson, on the contrary they praised one another profusely. I get why RVP should be pissed off. Moyes's style, and he does have one, is based on the old 4-4-2 system with emphasis on tireless flank work and crosses. Thing is, to RVP this style of play cannot be any more alien - the polar opposite of what he was raised in at Arsenal and previously holland. What boggles my mind is why Moyes does not stand up for what he truly believes in, go 4-4-2 and buy some strong wingers, instead of splashing huge money on Mata, who like RVP is the farthest thing removed from a Moyes system type of player.
Spreading around it is Giggs? Isn't one of the Nevilles the assistant coach as well? Class of 92 and all that?
Because it a signing of intent rather than necessity. After an abysmal start, Moyes needed to get the crowd back on his sign - a marquee signing. Further evidence that Moyes is scared to make the right decisions out of fear of upsetting the fans.
Well, I always knew he was a dinosaur, not however a dinosaur with a rabbit's heart thinking he's a tiger. With his weak politicking, he's wasting RVP, Mata and Januzaj and betraying himself. He should be going for strong players that could serve his true style, like Mandzukic and Shaqiri come summer, but ssshhhh lest he hears his own common sense.
The parallels between Hodgson and Moyes are pretty amazing at the moment. The amount of people who are now saying that Moyes is a 'great guy', 'nice bloke' etc is pretty funny. Ultimately who cares if he is a nice guy, its totally irrelevant when managing Man U. Ferguson for all intents and purposes seems to have been a total douche but that made him a great manager. There are lots of reports that Giggs is at odds with Moyes, and although its only rumours, if it is true is anyone surprised? Giggs has never played under anyone by Fergie who is probably like a father to him. I doubt any of the senior players are happy for the simple reason that if you are used to winning then being in their current plight would vex them no end. I think this showed on Sunday when there seemed little desire from the players to actually play well and it can be simplistic to say so but body language is a good indicator of attitude. There was a great moment that was caught on camera when BR had called Flanno to the side line and was giving him very in depth instructions on how he should be playing against the Man U players. This was great for two reasons; 1. The fact that BR is that in depth with each player and how they are playing. 2. Flanno visibly listened to what was being said. After he has finished he gave him a pat on the shoulder and a 'your doing well lad' kinda comment. That right there is management and highlights how well BR is doing.
Very similar scenario. Woy and Moyes both praise mediocrity. Moyes took over a championship side and took them to outside top 4. Moyes signs useless disco hair dudes. Woy took the majority of Rafa's side (that two years prior had given us our best title hunt in 2 decades) and took us into a relegation fight. Granted Rafa had just had the worst season ever ™ where we finished 5th. Woy replaced Rafas players with old bald men. Woy was the crap after a much loved Rafa. Moyes is the crap after a much loved Fergie.
Along similar lines was earlier in the season when RVP had just come back from injury. Halfway through the game you could see he was struggling and everyone knew he needed to come off but Moyes left him on stating at the end of the game that if he had taken him off the fans would have complained a they were chasing the game. Just shows a manager that doesn't know what he wants and is petrified of upsetting the fans by taking off a player, or signing players that suit his style rather than big marquee players.
in the end none of the comparisons matter so much as the fact that utd did this to themselves. they sat back nice and cocky on their "perch" thinking this would go on forever and were totally unprepared on the pitch and off for the inevitable. Its not roy hodgson its the ned of an era. The glaziers and their ceo are just like moores and parry. they hadn't a clue. the old ceo and ferguson left and frankly left a bunch of crap on the field. the only question in my mind is will moyes be left or will everyone be sacked and a grand clear out including giggs, neville et al occur for some new manager. The question is all about what happens next. If moyes is let loose with money god knows what will be put in and how it'll gel. moyes was never good enough to manage this side and he won't be good enough to rebuild it.

2 comments stand out there amongst all the delusional comments. 1) " on paper we (united) have the better team" ....oh really? 2) " we made an average Liverpool team look good" Errr..no Liverpool made an average united team look utter ****e!
There is another video of some old guy who does speak a lot of sense about Man Utd - he mentions how Moyes is grateful and humbled for the opportunity, when he really should be thinking "I belong here". I remember when BR was first appointed and he came across as a little arrogant but that's what you need from a manager who is taking over a big club. You need someone who isn't afraid to make big changes and have faith in his own ability. -------------------------------- For those who don't listen to the Anfield Index podcast, they compile a great stat called 'Pressing Actions'. A pressing action is defined as: 1) Forcing the opposition to pass sideways or backwards 2) Forcing the ball to go out of play 3) Forcing an error 4) Dispossessing the opposition This stat is brilliant because it highlights a players ability off the ball, which often goes under the radar, especially with the plethora of more glamorous stats such as goals, assists, tackles etc. It has only been done for a few games with the away game to Soton being the best for the number of pressing actions (approx 120). Against Man Utd, we had 160 pressing actions. No surprises as who the best players were at this: 1) Henderson, 2) Allen and 3) Flanno.
Haha not doubting his hard work and effort. And I don't mean to slag him off - he's solid and versatile, and that means he can be an important part of the squad. But I think we need extra quality in the starting positions. That's not to say that Flanno won't improve in the future.
