so with wigan set to be our first home game of the season what reaction do you think roberto is going to get this time after our away game up their place last year, where he was jeered all game? i think we owe him a great deal and for that reason feel we should be gracious what ever the result. if people want to boo him thats their decision. HOWEVER i dont want to see a similar thing that happened with paul anderson last year. got a good welcome in warm up and start of game. then mcgoldrick scored and our fans booed him for the rest of the game. just looked pathectic and very sour. stick to your guns
Well I think he should get a get a reception the same we gave for jackett imo, but lets see how it pans out, he did say at the time that he hopes him going and the funds we got will our club, and a few years on we are in the premier league!
On a personal level at the time of his departure I felt betrayed, but Wigan was always going to be a strong pull for him. What upset most fans wasn't just him leaving, but the manner of it with regards his previous pledges of loyalty. Didn't take me long to get over it, we all move on, and I for one was rooting for Wigan to avoid relegation. As for his return I for one will be on applauding him, but you will have a vocal number airing their continued grievance. In the long run he cemented a style that has been improved upon and taken us to the Premiership, so for me he'll become a Swansea legend.
If you look at the watford board you will see similar things right now, people calling milky or what ever the hell his name is a judas bok , actually the same for rodgers, yes I felt gutted when roberto went, but we have moved on now, and so has he
I do not give two F**ks for him. Thank you for all you did. Our man is Brendan Rogers and we should all be shouting for him. i will neither Boo nor Applaud him. just move on and give our current man the support he deserves.
i agree with trundles left foot, its history and we move on, plus anything negative and we will be playing into other peoples hands and we are better than that
I'm not sure what reaction I will give, but I think anyone who thinks he is going be applauded is just naive. He will be booed from start to finish. It's not just the fact that he left us (I am fine with Sousa, Scotland and anyone else who left to better their careers). Just that he wrote in his book that he would never leave Swansea unless sacked. And now he's had the cheek, when turning down the Villa job, to harp on about being loyal to DW and repay him for the chance he gave him. The man is as two faced as it gets.
^^^ obviously haven't moved on, he wrote what he felt at that time, and to be honest if he didn't leave we would not be where we are, we needed sousa in ready the defence in time for rodgers to move us up here
This RM saga should have died along time ago i for one have let it go and i don't see the point in anybody still being bitter about it.Instead of giving RM grief we should cheer on Brendan and the players come the day.
Spot on mate, no one should applud him nor boo him. Give BR all the support and play them off the park.
The way I see it if it wasn't for roberto we wouldn't of had the chain of events that has put us in the position we are lucky enough to find ourselves in, but if (and it is a big if) I am lucky enough to be home and to get a ticket for the game (might do extra lottery tickets if them 2 come in) I could not give 2 monkeys f***s about wigan or any other team that we play this coming season I am solely going to support my beloved swans in their attempt in scaling the dizzy heights of the prem. I wish the best of luck to all the other premiership teams this year but I hope and pray that we finish in the top 2 as I have taken swansea @ 5000/1 ew to win the prem simples

Personally I hope people won't boo. Remember we are Premier league with more media attention and the match will be shown all over the world and on Sky. That sort of behavior would give a very negative impression of us on our first home game.
I will definitely be clapping him, not booing him. We have Martinez to thank for laying such good foundations for us in my opinion
Have a different view as I still feel sick everytime I see his face. Fact is he walked out on us when we least expected it having promised he wouldn't (and castigating those who did so before him ie Trundle and Robinson) and took our leading scorer Scotland and Gomez (who admittedly was only on loan) with him as well as trying to tap up some others namely Ferrie and Leon. Not only that but he took all our backroom staff barring Pascoe with him plus Kevin Reeves who was our chief scout at the time and had been instrumental in bringing some real finds to the club. He left us without a second thought and we could have just fallen back down the league ladder for all he cared. Thankfully the board were able to rectify things and we are where we are today because of them and not the Spaniard. Everyone has their opinion and I accept that some will be happy to show their appreciation for what he did in changing our style of play and getting us promoted and I would really have preferred to treat him as a returning hero who deserves respect. However for the above reasons I will treat him as the Judas I believe he is.
Don't get me wrong but he did leave in a bit of a stupid way with our quality players and staff........ but look at what he brought us! i believe if he wasn't with us at all we wouldn't be where we are know as he set up the unique and colourful style that we play. So even though he was a jackass because he said "I will only leave if im forced" in his autobiography but left for the money, he did make magic at swans and brought us quality..... Hopefully Bodde will score a hatrick and that will be the ultimate rub in.... Great manager though...... also quick fact.... he played in the team on the last day of the season when we needed to stay up to stay in the football league! 9 years ago was it?
Makes it all the worse that he was our club captain that day against Hull and took us up as a rookie manager to the championship yet didn't have the faith to stick with us. Walked away because Whelan had been tapping him up for months yet could have stayed for at least another year or two and become one of the most respected men in our history. Where was the Wigan chairman when Martinez was playing in league two for Chester, it was us who had enough faith in him to give him his chance as manager yet he walks off lured by greed and the lust for fame. Thankfully we have a better manager than him now and wouldn't want to swap Brendan for the Spaniard but we got to where we are now despite him not because of him.
so, you do not care for Martinez? You wont boo him, you wont applaud him. He doesn't matter? I find it odd then you have Lee Trundle as your user name. Surly you were not one of the ones cheering for him when we played Bristol. because after all, he's gone now, he left for Bristol. Thanks for everything trunds, but no thanks. We owe a huge amount to Martinez. He played a huge part in us getting to the premier league. I honestly think if we wouldn't have had Martinez we would not be in the Prem right now. He has been proved exactly right with what he said about the funds we got from him going to help the club. A number of the players he signed have had a massive impact on the club. DDV, Angel Rangel, Williams, Dyer, Bodde, Gomez, Anderson, Scotland, Dobbie. He created a new of thinking for our club. For everything. I even think he changed Huw Jenks mind on dealings in the transfer market, about being wise. The philosophy of the way we play. Even current players improved. Monk, Tate, Britton, Pratley. Joe Allen. etc. Yes I was gutted and annoyed when he left and what he did, but time has healed it all now, and I was rooting for Wigan to stay up last season.
