The plan required confirmation from the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Planning because Hounslow Council granted permission but English Heritage raised objections. The public body had concerns about the impact of tower blocks and a hotel being built to pay for the stadium. The club said it was a "once in a generation chance" for a new home.
