Re-watch the interview from 12:05 but in the context of the Allams already aware of today's decision and their knowledge of a further opportunity to respond with the written submission.

I'm guessing one of the reasons was "you have not demonstrated that you have consulted the fans, or have the widespead backing of the fans" (hence the poll)

The second reason... not demonstrated commercial opportunities. Ehab mentioned in the interview a company with £120 billion turnover. They will probably make this potential sponsor now known.

I think "Hull Tigers" was all a smokescreen.

I think that Assem doesn't really want to change the club name, just the pronounciation. He thinks that the "Tee" in City should be pronounced "Vee" so that we can be called "Hull CV". Then Assem can own an FA cup winning team and tell everyone to look at his CV.

The battle is won but the war isn't over yet.

There are about 15 companies in the world with that turnover or more. There's only a handful with turnover around that figure.

Allam had decided to poll the fans over two weeks ago, it was passed on to me at the time. That was well before the 5th March. markkc's theory could still be correct but is it likely that Allam knew the outcome of the meeting so long before it took place?

    Why Gazprom?

Is it the logo? It is, isn't it.

Though it could be the fact they own a lot of oil.

Not rich enough, as are Apple <laugh> £120 billion = $200 billion so:

    Glencore
    Toyota
    Total
    Chevron

The fact that some people believe this sponsorship bollocks is astounding, especially considering how much even the top teams get:

Well considering they still want an Asian market I'd expect Toyota if it was one of those.

    It won't be though.

Except for the really top clubs the sponsors all seem to be relatively small companies trying to get noticed.

It should be Volkswagen. And all season pass holders should get discount rates off new cars and all VW parts, specially lambda sensors.

And a free engine rebuild every 100k miles.

Surprised more car manufacturers don't sponsor football teams actually. Having your logo on the shirt of a top club is probably the second most amount of exposure a company can get.

    Probably.

If I had a list of corp sponsors that I could choose from it probably be one of the four below.

    Cyberdyne Systems
    Weyland-Yutani Corporation
    Initech
    Omni Consumer Products
