David Conn ‏@david_conn The FA membership committee has rejected the Hull "Tigers" name change, as @pkelso reported. Council decision next month should be formality.
Yeah, I'm sure Man City's owners are looking for a little side project? If the Allams do sell, I can see it going very well or terrible.
David Conn ‏@david_conn Apparently the FA membership committee found that the Allams (Assem's son, Ehab, met them) had not made a strong case for the "Tigers" name.
From the BBC: "The FA Council will make the final decision but one FA source has told BBC Sport he would be "astonished" if they now acted against the advice. Richard Conway Sports News Correspondent"
It's quite simple, Assem will announce he's walking but will leave Ehab in charge whilst still running the club from behind the scenes. It's the only way he can do it without going back on everything hes already stated.
QPR fan in peace! Great news and the FA for once get something right for a change! All the best for the rest of your season!
It's official... FA statement on proposed Hull City name change The FA can confirm its Membership Committee met on Wednesday [12 March] and has made a unanimous recommendation to The FA Council to reject Hull City’s request to change their playing name to Hull Tigers from next season. The recommendation, which came after consultation with stakeholders within and outside of the game, will be discussed and voted upon at a full FA Council meeting on 9 April 2014. Hull City are able to make a further submission to The FA Council in view of the written reasons, which they have received, before the 9 April meeting. A final decision will be made at that meeting. As such, The FA will be making no further comment at this time. http://www.thefa.com/news/governanc...sed-hull-city-name-change#V825kr6C6A6ZUU8H.99
Interesting that the committee met last Wednesday, and since that time the Allams have done their Sky interview AND announced a poll.... I guess they plan to use the poll results in their further submission. Fat lady not singing just yet.
Or, more likely, AA has found out and has responded by doing this poll. Making him look desperate and worse off.
That's what I meant. They will have shared them report with the owners before they presented it last week, and detailed them the reasons for rejection. Not consulting with fans will probably have been a key factor, hence the poll, and the interview. Actually wouldn't surprise me if the Allams got notified even earlier, hence the open letter to fans.
