Im pretty sure that's not true and made up by the right leaning media who want you to think that way. For example, there was that whole furore in Hull during a world cup a few years back - Japan/ S Korea perhaps? - when a taxi driver was all over the national media saying he was ordered by the council to take down the St George flags on this car as "it offended asylum seekers". The real reason - for I worked on it - was becuase his flag was bloody 4ft by 4ft, flapping from his car, obstructing his and other motorists vision!! He was actually told if he swapped it for a smaller flag he could keep it but of course all the media ignored that part.
