Our first XI yesterday had no players that were signed in the last 12 months ...

Shows you how well Rodgers has done with the existing players and his coaching.

I actually think it could have done, I believe had you scored a goal yesterday you would have got two. There is a lot of pressure on you guys at home at the moment.
Had Rooney put in a better effort when we lost him on edge if the box the game could have changed right there. However it didn't hope you manage to turn around Gala score as it not good for England if everyone goes out :( would rather have English sides in there so good luck - think you need it ;)

If you compared the movement of Allen/Henderson compared to Carrick/Fellaini yesterday is was so different. Both players were making forward runs and forward passes and getting in the little gaps between the midfield and back 4. It created nice little triangles and allowed us to move the ball through United.

Carrick/Fellaini on the other hand were so static that I don't think either of them moved forward with the ball or were able to lick up with RVP or Rooney.

It was nice to see Allen get himself in the box as well. Should have done better with his effort in the first half when it dropped to him but 12 months ago, after 25 seconds of the half would you have seen Allen in the box winning a penalty? No chance. Having Gerrard in there has really freed them 2 up to go play forward and add an extra layer of attack to the SAS.

Yep, our whole team is mobile and fluid. We play a number of systems, formations in one game which makes it incredibly difficult for the opposition to defend against.

This is down the versatility and intelligence of the players - Suarez can come deep, play up front or play on the wings, as can Sturridge. Sterling is intelligent to play on both flanks and now in the middle.Henderson and Allen work tremendously off the ball to cover all blades of grass.

    Not really a surprise but:

Joe Allen (11.87km) and Henderson (11.25km) covered the most ground yesterday. <ok>

Allen and Henderson having running behind means defences can't just deal with Suarez and Sturridge

Allen earning the 2nd pen yesterday was a big moment

Now we have a system/personnel to play in the away games.

In the home games, I would look to bring back Coutinho <ok>

It's great to have that flexibility. Against Cardiff I would start as we did against Man Utd but at home drop Allen and bring in Coutinho.
