But in all of our history since 1904, he is the most successful owner we have ever had. What makes you think we will just inherit someone better?
Do you seriously believe the Allams are in this for the long haul ?? First chance they get, if a decent offer came in they would sell up like a shot with no interest in who the buyer was
To be honest, I don't know why they bothered in the first place. It would seem it has caused nothing but aggro for a man who at his time of life should be looking to take it easy.
Where else in the world do you actually find someone rushing to defend a blackmailer ? You notice how they twist the not wanting the name change debate into one of not wanting them to own the club !! So basically they are now saying a vote against the change is a vote for them to leave
I think they'll ask a question along the lines of do you support the current owners continued stewardship of the club? And if the fans back them then they have a get out clause when the name change is declined. If we qualify for Europe and stay up - they may put the club up for sale but they won't sell it - unless someone offers to buy it at whatever they value the club at. Unfortunately it won't go away - they'll likely appeal the decision and it will carry on into next season
You can't make the two mutually exclusive anymore... When asked if he believed he could win over fans who are against the proposal, Assem Allam said: “What matters to me most is the fans, more than the decision from the FA. If the FA in April come and say yes and the fans said no I will take the no. “I don’t force the issue, I go by the fans not the FA. If we cannot do it then we walk out and the club will be for sale, we have said this before.”
Then let it be that; they are the ones forcing issues, simply respond in an appropriate manner. Take the few positives they offered, acknowledge them and attack the bullshit.
No he really isn't. Harold Needler was a true philanthropist and didn't insult or incite the fans like Allam did. Bartlett and Duffen did everything Allam has done and they're regarded as **** owners, just as Allam will be. I don't pretend to have any idea who our next owner is. None of us do. But you're the one claiming it's likely to be someone terrible because you want to scare people into accepting everything Allam says. Your claim is based on no evidence so it's completely worthless.
Like he said they would move to Melton if he couldn't have the stadium. The threat to sell is a hollow one as unless they wrote off the debt nobody would buy the club
Bartlett and Dufffen took out loans against the following years season ticket sales, sold our (best) player for a discount just to pay the wages and took the club to within 24 hours of insolvency. Allam has provided serviceable loans to enable us to potentially achieve our best ever league position, first FA cup semi final for 80 years AND bring the club into profitability by next season. I will remember ONE of them as **** custodians of the club, but not the other.
I agree with all of that (profitability by next season is a waiting game), so why do they need to lie, manipulate, blackmail and insult their customer base? If you wish to extol their virtues, be sure to recall their vices.
Or debts now are clearly not serviceable having increased by over £50 million in the last 2 years, if they walked ow we would be in a much worse position than Duffen & Bartlett left us
Really, I'm sure Gillett and Hicks felt the Spirit of Shankley and those Liverpool fans who paid to get into Anfield were supporting them. It must have warmed their hearts to see the posters.
All those vices you mention relate to the same topic, their appalling handling of their desire to change the name. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and put it down to not understanding football (which they admitted fairly early in their custodianship) and not being media savvy.
He doesn't respect us enough to say, "ok if you don't want the name change lets work together and find the money to make this club great". He acts like a spoilt 5 year old and says "if you say no I'm off".
