Thanks for the reminder jake- I forgot the draw was this morning. Checked the good ol' BBC site and the draw still isn't up. Here it is, pasted from the Carling website. - Carling Cup First Round Draw Rochdale v Chesterfield Port Vale v Huddersfield Town Rotherham United v Leicester City Hull City v Macclesfield Town Hartlepool United v Sheffield United Leeds United v Bradford City Doncaster Rovers v Tranmere Rovers Walsall v Middlesbrough Barnsley v Morecambe Accrington Stanley v S****horpe United Derby County v Shrewsbury Town Oldham Athletic v Carlisle United Bury v Coventry City Sheffield Wednesday v Blackpool Burnley v Burton Albion Preston North End v Crewe Alexandra Nottingham Forest v Notts County Brighton & Hove Albion v Gillingham AFC Bournemouth v Dagenham & Redbridge Ipswich Town v Northampton Town Cheltenham Town v Milton Keynes Dons Bristol Rovers v Watford Plymouth Argyle v Millwall Oxford United v Cardiff City West Ham United v Aldershot Town Southampton v Torquay United Charlton Athletic v Reading Portsmouth v Barnet Stevenage v Peterborough United Southend United v Leyton Orient Wycombe Wanderers v Colchester United Hereford United v Brentford Exeter City v Yeovil Town Bristol City v Swindon Town Crystal Palace v Crawley Town/AFC Wimbledon
You are more than welcome Fratton, thanks for providing the complete list Fully expect to be drawn again Torquay in the next round
Love a good run in the Cup(s). Let's hope we have the numbers this time around or, like last season, some of us will be hoping they get knocked out just in order to survive the league campaign.
If you were a TV producer, which fixture would you pick for live coverage? My short-list would be: Leeds United v Bradford City Sheffield Wednesday v Blackpool Nottingham Forest v Notts County Plymouth Argyle v Millwall Oxford United v Cardiff City Charlton Athletic v Reading
I find it funny how this site doesn't allow you to post Scunthorpe. Must be annoying for their fans though.
Perhaps we should type Scunny for short. Why do we get away with typing ARSEnal - doesn't that include a rude word ?
That assumes that you get past Barnet- Fair team on their day. You have home advantage, Barnet a possible numerical superiority.
What do you mean Channon ? We will have at least 10 players by the time the match comes round. I would be more worried about Torquay - very unlucky in the playoffs end of the season, and looking for revenge against some poor unsuspecting side - gosh, that could be your team
Thanks for your concern gentlemen. Torquay nearly got away with it season before last before we had time to sort out our team. This time round we will do it a lot easier. You though still need to find a few players. Hope it goes well in that department.
Yes, hopefully this season should be a lot easier for you financially, so let's hope that you find the players you need. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't lose any sleep if you struggle on the pitch next season, but your supporters have had more than their share of worries this last season or so. It would be nice for you to be merely unhappy with the performance of the players, not the owners or accountants!
You are as deluded as the crank who thinks Patrick Veira is an option for your outfit. The stress of following a busted flush is obviously having its effect. See your doctor asap
And you were probably among the muppets that thought Southampton were about to sign Freddy Adu last season............say no more
The bookies don't rate Pompey's chances in this competition - Blue Square have us at 250-1 to pick up the three-handled carafe of Carling. In comparison, Rangers are the same price to win the Champions League and, at even shorter odds of 200-1 you can pick Bosnia Herzgovina to win Euro 2012 or Egypt to lift the World Cup in 2014!
