Nobody knows the reasoning, nor who was involved in Laudrup's removal. Isuppose you can pretend to know but don't expect many to believe it withoutsome sort of proof . Monk can not only get us out of this jam , but I give him 75 % chance of doing just that. Time will tell. Monk was thrown into the deepend , no matter what happens I'll not basically blame Monk nor praise him for nothing .

Come on, Taff, cheap shot!! We all know about that game where 'Pool stuffed our seconds and we all know why and we all know it was a one off. It's just too unwieldy to keep citing examples of things and putting in brackets (the 0-5 at Liverpool apart). You know full well the point I was making.

Not <ok>. Total **** in fact.

We were not on that road under Laudrup - we were coming out of the most difficult run of matches in the season with a heavy injury load, still in Europe, still in the FA cup, and key players coming back from injury. We were cohesive, well organized and competitive against the top teams in this league. We suffered by terrible individual failures on the field - Williams, Davies and Tremmell - that resulted in gifted goals to our opposition.

We have the quality and talent to play out of this position. We do not need a player clear out. We do not need a coaching clear out unless you mean Monk and whatever cronies he currently has helping him (Curtis excepted). We do not have the coaching / management competence to organize and prepare these players. We had that under Laudrup. We have a void of that under Monk.

Boundy, it is my firm opinion that Monk engineered this situation by continually undermining, with Williams' help, Laudrup's position. As for his "integrity", as they say, with friends like that, who needs enemies? That Jenkins & Co bought it shows what a bunch of rank amateurs they all are.

Well, he asked for it and he got it and, so far in terms of results, he's making a pig's ear of it. However, like you, I do hope he succeeds because the future of our club is at stake.

Oh, right, sorry, Taff, I stand corrected. Yes, the lads played well and were unlucky not to get a draw.

We'll have to nagree to disagree here Yankee.

As for slippery slope under Laudrup, 36 points in 38 games does indeed suggest so. As for injuries, Laudrup should have assembled a bigger squad, hell at least half a dozen on here said that in the summer. We were also missing 4 fully fit players yesterday, but nobody seems to be using that as a defence for Monk.

Yet there are rumours that Laudrup wasn't turning up for training, and didn't show up until 5 minutes before kick off against WHU. If that is the case, regardless of who is in charge, those were sackable offences.

The club announce tomorrow that Zola has been appointmed manager with Monk as his assistant. How would everyone feel about that scenario?

Just a speculative question of course.

Reading your board is a bit like reading ours at the moment.I don't think things are as bad as people make out though .Its Fulham and your neighbours plus one from the next seven upwards IMO.

Hopefully Cruyff we'll both stay up, as I do admire the way your manager tries to get the team to play the game <cheers>

Zola would probably bring in his own staff before using Monk as his assistant. For an endless amount of reasons - all mentioned above, by various posters.
The question is if Monk can hold any position in the club after the summer, relegated or not... He might be too connected, even in a symbolic sense, with the failures of this season.

I agree cruff, Cardiff and Fulham are nailed on now in my view, their remaining games will bury them, and Sunderland have a tough run in too, so I think we are seeing the bottom three that are going down, still it's squeaky bum time nevertheless..............<cheers>

Monk is a stop gap, nothing else in my view!...............<ok>

That is my view too as long as Sunderland don't get a result at CR on Saturday. We've been OK at home only conceding one so far this year to a Stoke spot kick that was as Hughton said, very soft. There are teams I would rather see go down TBH but when needs must.

Be good if you can give them Black pussies a grand welcome they'll not forget, your pretty good at the physical battles, as we have found out far too often, and you are in need of pulling away from the dog fight too, so I'm sure you boys will be targeting this one for 3 points, just get in their face and press them high up the field, should do the trick!......................<cheers>
