Agree, we need some fresh blood on the board, to me as they have been together for so long, it's probably a very pals board. Need someone more dynamic who can maximise the clubs potential on and off the pitch.
My thoughts exactly: I've had a hard time understanding the boards actions ever since Tutumulu-gate this summer. I've stated earlier that we need more "football-professionals" on the board. People with an agenda of taking the club upwards and onwards, rather than saving every penny, just for the sake of saving it. This club has potential and needs to be ambitious to develop and grow. Current board members should be thanked for their time and invaluable efforts, and sent back to manage their own local industries. When managing a multi million company you need a different kind of personnel. Just as you need a different kind of players in the premier league than in league one...
Hi guys when I read on the net that we were 1 nil up after 2min I thought we would win at least 4nil and be 6 pts clear of Brom, but as time went on and I could see it was still 1nil after 55min I txt my kid and said if we don't score soon that we would lose the game. I watched the Everton vs CC game as that was the one on over here in Aussie. And thought we could get a pt next wk or a win , as we were a better team than our friends up the RD But now im not too sure if we don't start getting points we will be joining Cardiff in the Championship .OR they could be the ones who stay up .come on you Swans pull your weight and get the fu---- points we need.
In truth, there is only one person that can come in at this point, who knows the players, can get be up to speed immediately and have immediate effect .... Laudrup. Anybody else, however competent, at this point does not have enough games to work with and is going to be handicapped by their implicit drive to impart their "approach" to what we do, however hard they try to just keep it simple and effective - i.e. organize, prepare and manage matches properly. We are not lacking quality and talent. We are bereft of organization, cohesion, preparation, stamina and game management. This is what has walked out the door. This is what we need to walk in through the door for us to survive. We can play our way out of this with the right person at the helm. Monk is not that person. Dismissing Laudrup was not a brave decision - it was an insane decision. Now, we need a really brave decision to be made, "we" need a moment of clarity and honesty to realize "we" ****ed up, "we" need to take a big gulp of the "in the best interest of the club" cool-aid and .... invite, beg, whatever but get Laudrup back even if just to see this season out. I think I am still dreaming .... but the truth is that the one person ideally equipped to resolve our disastrous downward spiral in the time left is the person we got rid of. The brave decision would be to bring him back. To compound the original insanity would be to persevere with Monk.
One that should be debated then, we are set up for the first half only , the opposition play within themselves and soak up pressure then react accordingly after the break , we fail to alter our game plan to counter their threat and thats when the organisation breaks down, cohesion that has a link with motivation and with few exceptions theres not been a lot shown by the guy on the side lines ( even though he does wave his arms a lot which doesn't seem to achieve a lot except to maybe appease those who think it's a sign of a good motivator), half time team talks again are an opportunity to get the message across but they must be speaking another language because thats not working,Preparation, well to pick a player who hasn't played a competitive game for near on 2 years in front of better and more consistent players is a mystery ,considering the club are desperate to get shot of him as well does make you wonder whether theres a touch of the "old boys" network at play .Stamina , instead of becoming stronger than the opposition in the second half which until recently we did ( check the stats ) we seem to be blowing out of our arses after 60 minutes ,Game management see Cohesion .
Yet this summary could also be equated to Laudrup's final months in charge depending on how you interpret things. Therefore we should be pondering the question, are Monk and Laudrup crap managers or is it time for the players to shoulder the blame and are they not as good as we thought.
I've said many times that we now have a more expensive team than last season as opposed to a better team.
Wouldn't agree, Valley. Laudrup's team seemed to do better in the second half blowing the lack of stamina accusation out of the water eg versus Stoke 0-2 at half time, back to 3-2 and robbed of the win. I get the feeling that if Monk's team was down 0-2 they'd end up getting beaten 3 or 4. Even though the West Ham game was poor, we pressed and pressed but couldn't break through and at no time did we plumb the depths as we did in the second halves against Palace and WBA. It could well be the players as they are the common denominator for both managers, except that Laudrup had far more injuries to contend with and therefore a smaller selection of players to field. So what happened to Monk, the motivator supreme? If he can't offer that, he offers nothing!!
This years team has massive potential compared to last season , just not realized with the builder in time imo . The 2014 part of the 2013 - 2014 season will be historic ---
I dare not say that you're pushing things off topic. I do agree with some things said, but of course Laudrup isn't coming back after how he was treated. He's a man of honour, and doesn't Luke to work with amateurs. Swansea will be relegated with Monk at the helm. Wishes and prayers will do no good. Swansea need actions taken NOW. Anything else will point towards acceptance of relegation, as the signings in the winter transfer window indicated...
Monk will have to lead us to another season in the Premier , to change now would be foolish really . The players would be overwhelmed by a new manager at this point . Garry will get us through this imo , just not enough to stay in charge come summer.
I sincerely hope you're right and what ever happens comes I hope Monk comes through this with his integrity and passion for the club intact ,but to put him in a position such as the Board have done is doing him , the players ,and us the supporters no favours at all .This season should be remembered for many things but may only be for one the way things are panning out .
Monk is not a victim, he was an active parttaker in the removal of Laudrup. Not spotting his lack of qualifications is one of the errors the board has made. They trusted Monk to know the Swansea way, all he knows is to wave his hand vigorously and the road to relegation. It's not a lost battle - but I fear the worst: The board accepting relegation as a bump in the road. To get out of the spotlight, and keeping the power in the clubhouse
Tbh we were on that road under Laudrup too We need a clearout of players and backroom staff in the summer.
