After watching the WBA game away, where they were completely clueless, now the boot is on the other foot and were the clueless ones know.
The fact is that this season under Laudrup we beat Valencia away, but lost at home. Another fact is that under Laudrup we lost at Cardiff but, under Monk, we beat them at home. The reality is that we were drifting under Laudrup - and Monk is not the answer.
Why , are they in danger of dropping out of the PL ?, still seething about yesterday and the blind faith some had in the new manager .
Garry Monk doesn't deserve the bile being spat at him, the board sacked ML and put Garry in charge. All this grief is the boards doing.
We had a perfectly good goal disallowed against Valencia that would have given us a draw. The club cat could have motivated us to beat Cardiff at home. The reality is that Jenkins panicked and Monk is definitely not the answer.
Garry Monk, aided and abetted by Williams, had been angling for the job for some time and brought "this grief" on his own head. Unfortunately, he's brought it down on ours as well.
It seems that there is now a growing consensus on this forum that Garry Monk is not the answer. Even those who praised Monk as the new 'Messiah' are seemingly coming to the same conclusions of those who thought it was wrong from the beginning. Maybe he's not meant to be the answer anyway, just someone who could bring a halt to the run of results and performances that we had slumped into under Laudrup, and thus help us avoid relegation - with a more experienced person to come in at the end of the season ? If we win our next 3 games - all this will go away.
Ironic that some believe the rumours about Monk et al complaining yet dismiss the rumours that portray Laudrup in a negative light at their first opportunity
I saw him as a temporary appointment until they brought a new guy in. Was also hoping that somebody would have been lined up after the Palace game to give him 2 weeks to settle with the squad. He'll, I'd have gone for Zola with Monk as his assistant to help Zola settle quickly. For any board to sack a manager with no seemingly option about replacing him on a permanent basis is madness.
Monk admitted complaining about Sousa himself, in his book....maybe that and his comments re: Laudrup's press conference etc. leads some to believe those particular rumours.
I suspect Monk was involved in the unsettling process.. running to Chairman to complain about coaching etc.
Certain senior players complained about Laudrups methods in the USA and they did the same after the Cardiff game,Ash williams went to the chairman to complain about the preparation and to say they wernt being worked hard enough etc,etc . Huw was seething after the cardiff game himself so it was the perfect storm in that respect. Monk may not have coverted the managers job specifically but he was instrumental in breeding the negative feeling .
We lost to Valencia - end of. I could equally argue that Palace should not have been awarded their equalising penalty. Similarly, we could/should have been awarded a penalty yesterday. Both decisions went against us - end of.
