Another thread well over the 1000 posts. No doubt there will be more comment on the various Cups for this season, so here's a renewal. Here's the last comment from the old one:
If MP needs to know what a cup final means to the fans of, dare I say it, a less fashionable club, then he should come up to Scotland this week. 40,000 Aberdeen tickets sold (and demand for more) for Sunday`s Scottish league cup final. Since my first match in 1967, it`s the biggest Dons crowd I have ever seen. Unbelievable. The whole city is buzzing. I had a premonition a few weeks ago - Aberdeen won the LC in 1976, Saints the FA Cup - the way the FA cup draw has played out, history could have repeated itself. Go for it next season please MP ! COYR.
Glad to see the Dons regaining some form this season - 2nd in the SPL, Semis of the Scottish cup, and the Final of the league cup on Sunday. McInnes has done a good job and given the team, club, and supporters a new lease of life after dwindling a bit the last few seasons. Hope they can do the cup double!
I really wish we were in it. There, I said it. I didn't get too caught up in the general dispair when we lost to Sunderland, so I'm entitled to whinge once. We need some saints news.
Aberdeen, I watched the documentary on Fergie winning the Cup Winners Cup with Aberdeen. The scenes of the fans on that ferry trip for the final were mental. It was something like a 3 day trip in a cargo ship with standing room only and people in like sardines with gazillions of cases if beer. Did you go?
Yep, but I wasn`t on the ferry. I took a charter flight - the ferry would`ve been more fun though. Fergie and Mark McGhee took the cup down to the harbour to welcome them home. I`ll never experience anything like that again with Aberdeen, so Saints`ll have to do it instead !
Why don't you discuss this on the Pompey board? No one on here really cares about the woman's FA Cup.
Think Lapras was making a little joke...because our first thought would be the men's side. No need to take it so seriously.
Yes not the greatest of spectacles, but the winning is all that matters in finals. Great to see the 40k+ Dons fans go home happy.
