Sunderlandâs former Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena has revealed the level of former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitezâs obsession with football, telling reporters that the Napoli boss âlives it 24 hours a day.â Dossena, who made 18 appearances in a two year spell at Anfield under the Spaniard, said that the incessant levels of football talk when Benitez was around meant that he once fell asleep on a plane during a football chat between Benitez and Fernando Torres, only to wake up five hours later with the conversation still flowing. âHe lives it 24 hours a day,â opened the 32 year old Sunderland defender. âDuring a trip to Singapore, I fell asleep on the plane talking football with Torres, I woke up five hours later and they were still there talking. âThen, when we arrived at the hotel, in the elevator he [Benitez] began to explain to me how I would have played in his tactic.â Maybe if he stayed awake and took the football more serious he would be ok.
