This is fabulous news! Even if only on as a sub the reception will be deafening and must give the players a great buzz as well as the fans. The messiah returns
The news I've been waiting for, for 3 months!!! Get in!! I hope we ease him in though. He's going to get an amazing reception!
We can't expect him to come on after the time he's had off and just pick up the form he had before his injury.
And he probably ended up thoroughly demotivated after seeing first hand what a pig's guts of a team we've become under Monk. Whether we stay up or not, my guess is that Michu will want out at the end of the season. He can play for much better teams than us and the man he came here to play for was unceremoniously booted out. The trouble is, because of his long absence and the fact that he is now playing for a struggling team embroiled in a relegation battle, his transfer value will plummet. Well done Jenkins and the board. We will lose millions on Michu and have to pay Laudrup £4+ million, for the privilege of fighting to avoid losing another £60+ million next season. What a balls up. What a bunch of losers: small time local businessmen totally out of their depth trying to play with the big boys. Well, Jenkins, at least in signing Emnes and N'Gog, you've got in some practise at signing Championship players because that's where we could well end up next season. Michael, mate, I couldn't blame you if you're having a quiet chuckle somewhere. You didn't deserve the treatment those bunch of dipsticks meted out to you. Chickens coming home to roost, eh?
He looked thoroughly disinterested in trying to win the ball back yesterday too for the second goal. Nobody came in for him after his performances last season, so I can't see many teams coming in for him tbh.
Everyone shares in the blame of our precarious position, including Laudrup.Granted , some hold a bigger share than others but there is plenty to spread around .This is far from an "All is Lost " scenario . But even staying up , barely, brings a whole new set of cohesiveness problems to the group as a whole. We need to rattle off some wins and be in the race for 10 th if we want to keep who we have and to attract who we need.
Agree, next season we need a new manager, a new back room set up, new assistants, a new board member or two to freshen things up and new players and get rid of those who aren't pulling their weight or offer any valuable input, starting with Ash getting sold, as once again his inept defending plays a huge part in both goals. Most of the goals we conceded this season and last season involved this donkey.
I am afraid that Michu did looked disinterested yesterday. Even after getting a huge roar when he was brought on. But I remember thinking the same when he first arrived. Defence generally terrible for both goals, replays always make things look worse for any goal, but to walk through the middle of our defence to take the three points is not good. The energy from Monks first few games seems to have gone. Despite the number of games involved, I think maintaining the interest of cup would have been good for the squad. In the space of a few weeks we have been knocked out the glamorous cups and straight into a relegation battle. As a player Monk probably thrived on this type of situation and thinks, even without his bandages he is ready to save us as a manager. Other teams have gone for experience in this situation. For me alarm bells started to ring when the Everton Cup squad was announced. Our record of giving away late goals and not taking chances has been particularly poor this season and the players looked edgy when teams press us. Two weeks off and Rangel and lamah in particular looked tired in second half, both flanks then looked weak in attack and defence - so much for Monk's match fitness It is not helped by boos at any loose pass. Perhaps part of the difference in performance is the support. May not be possible to make every game feel like a home derby but for the away crowd to be louder than us against WBA & Crystal Palace is not good. I think we are going to need to get some points away from home to survive. But whether we survive we are in for rough ride in the summer and next season. The board needs a re-think.
He'd signed a long term contract that meant his transfer fee would be sky high, was widely known to love playing for Laudrup and didn't want a move. He'd stated this quite plainly a number of times. I can't imagine many teams not being interested in a midfielder who grabbed 20 plus goals in the Premier League.
Success breeds success and we began our present decline with a piss poor team selection against Everton , it's going to be hard to get ourselves any where near to a level where we can actually say we're in with a chance of a result atm, all then so called easy games are never that and complacency has crept in ,in both team selection and the players attitudes .I can't imagine what hold Lita has on Monk but it must be juicy to be considered on the bench especially after his inept performance v Palace .
