Valencia who I like had one of the most dire games in the history of the CL finals. Harsh I know but he looked so out of depth, he should of got a red card before half time and was rated as 3 and to be honest that is quite kind because he was -3. One thing we learned is skill and ability win you finals, runners and safe options don't.

Here is the video of his terrible game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUt4Aa_hBDo

Can anyone defend such a dire display? By far the worst player on the pitch.

Valencia was outclassed true, but it is wrong to say that 'runners and safe options don't win you finals'. Look how many times players like Park and Kuyt are picked for big games.

Incredibly harsh verdict. There have been many more **** performances than his, Harry Kewell and Emmanuel Eboue spring easily to mind.

Valencia is a top player and he was attempting to do a job he wasn't cut out for. At least he put his foot in, unlike the rest of the team who for the final ten minutes cluelessly passed back to the goalkeeper.

Why slate him in this way? Pointless.

Any chance to have a dig at Valencia because his tongue is lodged between Nani's bumcheeks.

He did have a poor game but we hardly utilised his abilities did we? He hardly had the ball at his feet so how could he do any attacking? It's understandable why he got so frustrated but like many players, he works best with the ball at his feet.

He was incredibly poor to be fair but his strengths are running at a full back, when your team doesnt have the ball you cant do that.

Why is this thread posted now, and not months ago after the final?

It's simpily because he dosen't have enough technical ability.
His game relies on power and pace (which he does effectively) but playing vs Barca, where they put pressure on you at a instant, you need good ball control and dribbiling skills. Valencia's game revovle around tapping the ball past the fullback and run past them. Vs Barca he simpily didn't have the space to do it.

Why start a post slagging your own player off, everyone has bad games and it's not like the other players covered themselves in glory. Weird post in my opinion.

    Wierd... It's pathetic.

Although our own players aren't beyond critisim to state it's the worst performance in the CL final ever is a joke.

I take it V25 you never have a bad day at work.

A stupid article, Valencia had a poor game, but no worse than the likes of Giggs, Hernandez, Evra and Van Der Sar who were equally just as ****!

As for Valencia being a "runner" you could quite easily say the same about the whole Barca side, when they don't have the ball they too run around like headless chickens chasing it, and that's part of the reason there so good.

As for worst ever, no were near, that Barca side is one of the best teams ever, and they have embaressed many top players this season, Valencia is just another to add to the list

Just giving an honest opinion here, but when we bring on a winger to (hopefully) save us from a defeat to a great side, we probably should hope for more than him assisting that team in a victory. But no, I thought Nani did really well. In fact, I think he played just as well as he did in previous games when the pressure was on him to help us over the finish line in the league title race, rather than hinder us. He was heroic at times.

Yeah, I just don't know why alot of people remember him setting up the Villa goal instead of being a threat.
It was entirely Nani's fault, and that goal was quite spectacular.

Nohlman, will you give it a rest. Yes Valencia had a poor match but so did all the team so it is not fair to blame it on one player.
