Thats just running. Welbeck is great for that quick passing at pace stuff. With the technically gifted players we have like mata and rvp he is good for doing the peg work whilst retaining some decent passing ability. Valencia doesnt offer that, he just runs pointlessly. Rafael is quick as is nani. Nani who wont play as hes just returned offers the same as welbeck but also some wide play. Against their left back he would thrive. Its a weak spot of theirs after all. Im thinking in SAF terms here. Players to do a job rather than the best 11. Saying that imo nani alongside januzaj is our best winger. Both bring the same to the table, nani just hasnt shown enough but I still see him turning it around. Lets not forget, nani has already turned his united career around once before. On his way out in 2008 but got a run in the side and had a brilliant 09 and 10. If all were fit though... I have no idea who would start. Got to consider mata isny great offering cover and evra is dire in defence. Januzaj isnt one to track back but offers everything we need going forward. Nani believe it or not is better than our too defensive we wingers at tracking back and winning the ball back. Hes also better going forward than valencia and young. Rooney isnt quick but hes always running and making himseof available. Will go after the ball if its not played to him. The centre mid is a hard one. Carrick give us the technique and some sort of defensive cover but he needs help from someone who wilp do all the chasing. Will Fellaini or cleverley do that? Fletch would be ideal considering our options. Or Jones if hes somehow not picked as CB. Smalling must be nowhere near right back. Moyes just cant. Really hope rafael plays. So often this season weve lacked threatening pace. Janizaj brings it to the taboe and its shown when hes played. The pace valencia brings isnt what we need though.
oh for f uck sake, what i say on a football forum has no affect on the players that will play tomorrow.
matth, statistics this season show that since you posted your early season thread in support of Moyes it has seriously jinxed Utd.
Welbeck is a striker who chokes infront of goal, he may be quick, and a great athlete, but you have to be a clinical finisher to make it as a forward for us. There is no point having all the tricks, if you have no end product to your game. I think Fellaini needs to partner Carrick in midfield, he had a good game against West Brom, so I think we need to give him the playing time to come good. There is a top class player there, he just needs to rediscover his confidence, and besides anyone is better than Cleverley at the moment. I think Nani should be brought into the first team soon, but not in the Liverpool game, as it's to much of a risk, as he's not gonna be match sharp
I agree with all of this except the welbeck bit. Welbeck is a bit like Hernandez, he is a reaction scorer, he will get a goal off his head, his arse or his ankle when reacting but finds it hard when he has time to think or place a shot. both Hernandez and Welbeck have added much to their game over the last two years though by improving their control and hold up/link up play, they both also chase back more than they used to and Welbeck in particular is very good at this.
I really hope Nani comes back as the magician he was and not the sulk he has become. I always will feel Fergie took something away from his game when he bollacked him for "showboating" against Arsenal when all he did was keep the ball through skill.
Moyes pleas with Rooney and Van Persie to continue 'outstanding' run against Liverpool http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ntinue-outstanding-run-against-Liverpool.html
Certainly to start with. Not too fussed about the top end as i think we will score with most combinations, it`s the middle and back that bother me, i would like to see RVP Rooney Mata Janazaj Fellaini Carrick Evra vidic/Evans Jones Raphael De Gea
It's funny how opinions can be so different on 2 players. I actually think Hernandez and Welbeck are the complete opposite to one another. Welbeck is always involved in play, and he is very good at linking up with others, he just struggled to do the hard bit, and that's finishing off the move. Where as Hernandez is a clinical poacher, a little like Micheal Owen, who plays off the last man, and is a fantastic finisher when he gets the opportunities. The downside to him though is it can be like playing with 10 men, but atleast he's always gonna be in the box getting on the end of things. I will admit that Hernandez hasn't looked as confident infront of goal recently, but that's because he barely plays, and his confidence is low, but you think back to when we first signed him and he had the best goals to minutes ratio in the league. He was a very clinical finisher, for me the best finisher in the league. I don't think Hernandez should be playing every game, as RVP and Rooney, whilst I don't think are as good a goal scorers, they are both better all round players, but Hernandez will not get back to his old self, if he isn't playing most games. He should atleast be the first player called upon when RVP is injured, not Welbeck
