He seems to think so, but says Vettel would give him as fight. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/stand...-crazy-risks-now-because-they-lack-respect.do I dont remember much of Mansell's f1 career but did watch him in Indy when he beat up the yanks in their own back yard driving the Newman Hass car and remembering him nearly wining the Indy 500, unfortunately he got mugged on a restart while leading. But he did go on to be 93 Indy champion and for me who was just getting into f1 at the time thought that was a great achievement, not only to win Indy as a rookie but also to hold f1 and Indy titles back to back, although my dad thought Mansell bottled it by not facing Prost in the Williams of the 93 season i thought Mansell was great. How do 606ers think Mansell would have coped competing with the class of 2011.
Kings of the different eras/ that cannot (in my opinion) be compared with each other. 50's: Fangio/Ascari/Farina 60's: Clark/Hill 70's: Lauda/Stewart/Fittipaldi 80's: Piquet/Prost/Senna 90's: Hakkinen/Senna/Schumacher 00's: Schumacher/Alonso 10's: Who knows? (Between Vettel-Hamilton-Button-Alonso-Webber../ dark horses (Rosberg-Schumacher-Kubica-Massa)
So with Kings of different eras, the term GOAT should no longer apply when people ask who is the greatest f1 driver.
Not really, they are all great, in terms of MSC he was one of the greatest of his (eras) and is the most successful driver of all time, but no one is the greatest in general.
I find this interview intresting from someone who should know http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueywB7OPIVI
So we can compare drivers from different eras. Anyway Mansell feels he has the beating of the current crop of f1 drivers, bar Vettel.
Don't understand this bit as I think many people feel Vettel isn't the best driver out there, very good driver in a fast car. But I think the general opinion is that Alonso and Hamilton are better, so strange for him to compare himself just to Vettel. Maybe because he also had a season with a very quick car and won the championship in it...
