I've doubted them on this subject (and this one alone) all the way through, since he came up with it last summer. I want to know where the money is coming from. I don't see how people can say everything will be rosy, nor how he can say hcafc would fail miserably. It's blind faith.
I think that would be about right, maybe 40%. Those who care passionately for Hull City will vote. Whether that vote can be rigged....TWT
****ing hell, never happy are you? They're making the decisions, not me. I disagree with this if it happens, sure, you happy now? Your childish jibe against me sums up pretty much why polls are a waste of time. I'm against polls in general for this type of thing and specifically for this name change decision, people are too easily manipulated, questions are questioned, results are questioned. In the recent epic interview, the Family said they would respect the wishes of the majority of the actual fans, not some numbnuts on the internet, or Cardiff fans. If the Allams are prepared to find out if they're wanted or not, who can blame them? They've invested their personal fortune in our club, if they're just going to be villainised all the time, why shouldn't they just say **** it, we're off, good luck? The simple fact is, if there was an overwhelming vote against a name change based on emotional arguments, it is pretty obvious it would be a vote against the Allams too. Regardless of what justification you wrap around it, we'll lose the best owners we've ever had and end up in a whole world of ****e again. You might want that, I certainly do not, and I can see past the emotional bullshit and will vote for a name change, and for the Allams. This isn't about the emotional bullshit of selling your soul or bending over, its about facing reality and deciding if a minor name change is worth losing everything over because you don't want the club to be successful.
Not a jibe at all, just wanted to see if you'd stick to your original view or alter it to suit as you've done in the past. Obviously, that's why I was pressing you for an answer on this a couple of weeks ago. I'm pleased your sticking to your guns this time although I don't agree with your view on the poll. In terms of the emboldened I don't disagree. If they want to go it won't bother me. They aren't our best owners ever though. Everything that was good and bad about Bartlett and Duffen applies to the Allams' regime in the exact same way. Both got us promoted by spending a lot and both spent money we didn't have and racked up debt. One ended badly when the spending caught up with them, the other looks like ending badly for the same reason. Both brought untold success on the pitch in the short term. I don't see how anyone could argue that the Allams are better than the previous lot were looking at the facts, they certainly aren't anywhere near being our best owners ever. Not sure what you're on about saying people don't want the club to be successful. Hull Tigers will have absolutely 0% chance of making us more sucessful or profitable and we all know it. The idea is preposterous and if it rests on the idea that Asians are stupid enough to buy anything Tiger related then it's racially ignorant.
If large corporations putting their names around the club is important to you, and you trust Allam's business sense, then surely Hull Tigers is your preferred name? It seems incoherent to prefer the name Hull City - but at the same time not be against the name change. Surely you have to take things like consequences into account when deciding whether you prefer the name Hull City or Hull Tigers.
I want the club to remain Hull City. I want the club to become Hull Tigers. If that was the proposition, then it woukd be a landslide in favour of Hull City, but that won't be the question. It will be worded in an 'are you with us, or against us' manner, or it will be presented as such. Or maybe I'm wrong and it will be a genuine no strings vote, in which case I'll be ecstatic.
On this forum, I can only recall reading perhaps a couple of forum members (I can remember) stating they actually wanted the change. There’s also a few other cap doffers who stop short of actually saying they want the change. It’s surely a truism to state that this forum, by majority of intent posted, is against a name change and I would estimate that a vast majority of people would, push comes to shove, be in favour of remaining Hull City - which bodes well for a vote. However, this isn’t going to be a straight forward vote. As we have seen, the angle the Allam’s have slowly adopted is that it’s not just about a name change (as CTWD have gone to pains to stress their cause is) it’s now all about giving them a vote of confidence in what they have achieved also. As we all know, they have offered no proof whatsoever of the benefits of a name change; and they have now stated that the name change would not be a quick fix. In essence, that the results of the name change would not be truly measurable in the short term giving opponents of the said change an unclear amount of time to make a sound evaluation. Further, I will be astounded if they allow a fair vote; in terms of question and the emotional blackmail. My biggest fear is lack of judgement of the public per se. We read on this forum, from people of all ages, how the Allams’ words strike genuine fear into people. “Oh they’re going to put up prices so I can’t go anymore. Right I better back them to the hilt and stop questioning them” The point is that, in this life, at this time, it has been proved that people in this country CAN BE PUSHED AROUND AND PEOPLE DO NOTHING ABOUT IT apart from drop out or acquiesce. My message again would be think on and allow your own mind to be made up by you alone. But, remember this, a person or group who threatens (as the Allams have) , deceives (as the Allams have) and have to resort to using emotional blackmail to win you over - are they really someone (in life in general) you’d trust and want to back?
If it's a straight yes or no vote in my opinion the no vote would win by a landslide. I would vote no. Trouble is it will depend on the question Imo
Bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. This should really have been done last summer but at least we'll hopefully have a chance to prove that there is no such thing as the silent majority. The fact we have reached an FA Cup semi final, a potential FA Cup final and with a decent shout of securing our best ever league finish as Hull City makes the name change sound even more unnecessary. There's no point fixing what isn't broken and despite Allam's 'expertise', a daft name change isn't going to stamp our authority on foreign markets ahead of the likes of Man United and Chelsea.
Wondering if they'll try a A) no name change but passes go up by 50% B) name change leading to new, exciting sponsorship deals or something along those lines
Who could ever imagine people getting worked up & doubting our owners who are proposing to change the name of a successful business. A business that will, through their own admission, break even this year & be in profit next year, despite being called Hull City. It's not as if it's anything serious like sacking a manager whilst in the Championship is it? Can you imagine the reaction if they did something a little leftfield & off the wall like sacking a manager, whilst playing in the Championship? I'd guess it'd go a little like this. "THey need to go, get rid of the cancer asap even if it means struggling next year" "Allams say they saved Hull City as a gift for the city of Hull. Very nice. So how about now doing the next best thing then by handing it over to us and leaving whilst they can ?" "I don't think the Allams will be seen as our saviour for much longer if they keep this attitude up. I will certainly be the first one to say "told you so" if it all goes pear shaped." "I honestly don't know if I want such knee-jerk reacting, football noobies deciding our future." "... It means that on a whim, (let's not forget why NB was sacked, he was sacked for expressing his opinion) the Allams could destroy our club or create some real problems off the field (that will surely reverberate on the field)" "Isn't that how drug lords operate? "we saved your arse so you shut the hell up while we do whatever the **** we want?"" ", I'm simply pointing to the fact that this "you can't say anything bad against them because they saved us" act is not going to last long with some of us if they keep making crazy decisions." "To those who don't, are you basically implying that we should all sit down with big grins on our faces because someone has done an incredible gesture and gave us £41 million pounds and we should never question their intent, their motives, their actions because after all "they saved us" "I am not anti-allam but please for the love of god keep an eye half open on what they're up to. I don't dislike them but I'm sick of hearing "they saved us"... What happened to Nicky should show clearly that they can just as well bury us at any given time for some silly reason... DOn't be lured in a sense of security. They are business men, they don't really "care" like we do." "To those who don't, are you basically implying that we should all sit down with big grins on our faces because someone has done an incredible gesture and gave us £41 million pounds and we should never question their intent, their motives, their actions because after all "they saved us" "As I've said before it's not so much what has happened but HOW it has happened. If we forget and forgive so quickly then the Allams will keep on doing whatever they want without thinking of us or the club." "I may be cynical but I don't think we should trust them 100% and back everything they do or say. I never believed this statement of "giving back to the city that made me rich"... the allams aren't stupid. If they were merely giving back and being generous they would go back to their other projects and leave the club alone to people who know football. Clearly that's not the case and I don't think it's healthy to have one person, especially someone with so little knowledge of football, being in charge and controlling so many operations on so many levels at the club." "one day we will see their true colours and believe me ,I really would rather eat some nice pie than for my scepticism to be proven right." I can understand how some people think that sacking a manager in the Championship, albeit a local ex-player who represented us for seven years is far worse than the proposal to change the name of our club that has served us for 110 for the purpose of saving a Premier League business that is breaking even & forecast to make a profit over the next 12 months. I'm being sarcastic, if you hadn't guessed. I believe there to be many PLW who are all too happy to bend over forwards & be rubber dicked by the same owners who they were once so critical of. Merely because we're now in the PL. Whores, all of them. Premier League Whores.
