The squad was so thin and overachieving for most of his time in charge that we were always going to get some dodgy results or hit a rough patch in the season. It was a marvellous achievement that our rough patch only came right towards the end and that it didn't start earlier. Even when we lost to Spurs we only lost via a deflected goal and a penalty that shouldn't have been given in the first place. Look at our bench that day against Spurs: 42 Gulacsi, 16 Kyrgiakos, 49 Robinson, 10 Cole, 28 Poulsen, 33 Shelvey, 24 Ngog. Hardly inspiring is it, there's not a single player there that could come on and change the game. And against Braga there was really nothing we could do, against Braga away Kenny brought on Carroll and changed the game in our favour, we were unlucky not to get the away goal and the penalty was just the Greek being rash in a tackle. The second leg Braga played a high line and that meant they exposed the squads big flaw, a lack of pace, especially without Suarez.
I think we know why he didn't come up smelling of roses. This Barcelona team are one of the greatest if not THE greatest of all time. You have to accept when you are beaten by the best.
Who thinks Liverpool are going to or expect to win it, a challenge means we keep in the race till near or to the end. If you are in there with 6 7 or 8 games left then you are in with a shout, lets face it thats how ye did it last year, hung in there when ye were behind and got lucky that the others fked it up, with the top teams not dominated by any one team its anybodies game with a tight pack, if we're in that leading pack is another matter. Lookin forward as fk for the season to start!! Expecting to win it we'll leave to you mancs eh
He's afraid to leave because of failure how do you know that? Personal friend of his are you? hahahahahahahahahahahaa Why leave when the only way is down? All them players you named he threw out of the club only I don't think Ronaldo was driven out was he? hahahahahahahahaha Name me a manager who has a better record in the Champions League since Ferguson has been the manager of United hahahahahahahahahaha Yes greatest manager of all time
We didn't exactly get "battered" though did we? We played against Braga with a team that wouldn't even substitute for our reserve team... It was obvious Kenny wanted to concentrate on the league, and as deluded as it sounds, it looks like he didn't want Europe at all, hence weak team vs Braga (resulting in no more games to distract from league and no Europa league qualification by winning next year) and an injury riddled squad vs Spurs that had run their socks off in the previous 6 games and needed a bit of a break we couldn't give them, resulting in a sloppy goal conceded. Blackpool etc.. well all I can say is every team have their teams they usually fail against - this year it was blackpool for us. You got beaten by Wolves, doesn't mean Ferguson is a **** manager does it?
We know why he didnt win. He got his tactics WRONG. He'd even been given a gameplan by Arsenal. Every team can be beaten but that does not excuse Ferguson's or the teams abject surrender
I laugh at all these people saying Barcelona are the "greatest team of all time," would they be saying that if they'd lost in the final to Man Utd? No. Yet it still only counts as one game. The general philosophy at the moment is: If Barca beat us, then they must be the best team to have ever played football. That is what everyone means when they say you're arrogant.
But I don't remember getting battered by Liverpool either so there you go. Two goals gifted two you and a flash of genius from Suarez. Otherwise it was even chances. But you look at things differently when you wear your rose tinted specs. You reckon Blackpool were your bogey side? Well Liverpool can be ours at times.
Just as it is your philosophy that every other team in the league is **** because United won the league. As I said. when you hate a team so much your hatred can take over your opinion.
Well no they wouldn't be calling them the best team of all time except for the fact they keep sweeping aside everything that is put in front of them, including Man Utd in the final.
I heard it all now. Man United fans don't remember Liverpool giving them a beating. You must have watched a different game to the rest of us so.Liverpool didn't beat Man United, they took them apart and destroyed them. The ease in which Luis Suarez walked through the Man United defence was embarrassing.I said this before, put pressure on the Man United central midfield and they fold faster than a bad poker player.
Probably not. However, there is no real way of proving it as we can't match them with the Real's, Inter's, Ajax's and yes liverpool's of yesteryear. That they are presently setting the standards is true however.
I know I'm devasted.. I will have to console myself with the fact that we won the league again. You beat give us a beating, I'll admit that, well done. What would you rather do get a beating from United and win the league or 'destroy' United and finish 6th ?
I remember getting beat. It wasn't a beating as the stats will tell you. Luis Suarez walked through the defence the once. I seem to remember DJ Campbell walking through the Liverpool 'defence' when they hammered you twice. I've said this before if you have 11 men on the pitch you will beat Liverpool as Blackpool, Wolves, Northampton and Braga etc shown all too easily last season.
Exactly it all about opinion, such as Souness stating he belives they are the best team ever, but yet a United fan gets called arrogant for stating in his opinion they are. In my opinion they probably are but again thats just my opinion
We've wandered off topic again, but here goes, Who can say whether or not the current Barca team is the "best ever"? They're undoubtedly up there, but that doesn't mean they can't be beaten. They have been beaten so the argument is pointless. Utd simply want to take comfort in the fact that they were beaten by the best team around rather than look at their own shortcomings in that game. Imagine if when Liverpool were beaten by Utd we'd sat back and said "Ah well, no shame in being beaten by the best team in the league". We'd have been- rightly-kicked from here 'til Tuesday. No, we said "We were **** and we know it and we must change things and improve" That's what we've done and hopefully we can continue to improve and challenge at the top next season. There we are, back on topic.
