Spot on. Unfortunately the usual suspects will take our optimism as the " next year is.......etc" claim because they have selective reading abilities.
for god sake do you think i am saying i dont want liverpool to win the prem this season? off course i want them to win it,i want it more than any liverpool fan that writes on this board ffs,but i am trying to be bluddy realistic and saying we need to concentrate 1st, on qualifying for the champs league, which will be hard enough with the likes off spuds and man city around,2nd,with all the new signings we are hopefully getting,to get them to play as a team, and hopefully in pre season that will get sorted, and yes if we have a great start in the first 10-15 games yes great lets look beyond 4th. **** sake i dont usually get pissed off,but i wish people read my original post and read it without blinkers on ffs.
Oh and your form last season under Kenny shouldnt be used as a yardstick for this season... You had no pressure at all and we all know without pressure its easy. The games you did have pressure in, he failed miserably....europe....cups....
Stop getting yer knickers in a twist. We agree with you that a top 4 spot is what we want this season. BUT the opportunity is there to ALSO aim for the title. All of the others have problems to try and rectify plus we will not have the problem of CL hangover games to worry about. City gave themselves a top4 target last season and both put more pressure on themselves than they needed plus they let their opportunity to win it pass them by.
The pressure on Kenny at the start was immense. If he would've lost a couple the knives would've been out.
Yeah, and the pressure was growing on him already after that, after a decent derby performance and demolishing Wolves away people's opinion of Kenny started to change and he lifted the pressure off the team, which is what good managers do.
dont wear knickers, wear a thong, but dont tell er indoors!!! the title is out of the question end off. top 4 yes great, then we can build on that for the following season and then go for the title.
Wow, I'll wear me hard hat next time! I wasn't disagreeing with you, the discussion had moved on a little and I was saying we should always aim as high as we can but be wary of over-optimism. The "selective reading " comment was aimed at the non- Liverpool fans permanently squatting on our board who interpret any mention of our improvement as a claim for world dominance.
But in the games which truly mattered in Europe or the 'Europa League Play off' against Tottenham he didn't exactly come up smelling of roses did he?
mufcok he absolutely battered you when we met without daddy webb to intervene. He got 2 points a game from a team in tatters that was loitering just above relegation and almost got us into europe when many were fearing a relegation battle. He worked wonders now stop looking for excuses like a spoilt brat.
Firstly, all of the games "truly mattered" as far as KK was concerned. He did his best to re-establish the confidence of the side after the Hodgson fiasco and was then blasted by a whole string of injuries that didn't help his cause. Secondly, the Spurs game was one game too far and confirmed what we already knew - the basis is there but needs strengthening. Finally, Ferguson didn't "come up smelling of roses" in the game that "truly mattered in Europe"
A manager afraid to leave a club to risk failure , hahahahahaha a manager that spouts bile tells his players to dive, cries to the media whena player supposedly smaller than the club wants to leave, hahahahahahaha. a manager that has driven some of the best players out of the club Becks Keane Ronaldo Stam and more a manager that buys tramps for 7.4m and shippes em off to turkey hahahahahaahaha a manager that has no tactical skill in football outside of the ppremiership resulting in 2 CLs even though you go every year since?
