Very positive first impression. I believe his football philosophy will become clear before too long, and I feel a strange optimism. Must change my medication.
He seemed very self-assured and I liked his positive post-match comments. It takes a brave man to stand on the touchline for 90 minutes in a potentially hostile environment. There was a noticeable difference in some player's composure yesterday; has he already had an effect? They should ditch the matching suits though.
Yeah, he seemed self assure, would be good if he keeps out those Liege players who aren't up to this level such as Thuram. But from what I heard the team seemed a bit of an oomph about them so would happily see what he does. But will be behind him unless it comes clear Liege are having the big influence on team selection. Heard he's still not signed a contract though...
Jury is out. If he wins at Millwall and gets us out of the bottom three on the same day I think he could immediately become the new messiah for some on here. Agree ditch the matching suits. Reckon he could just cost Rolo that £4m extra payout by not being totally inept.
He is a stooge IMO, chosen solely to bend over and have the old RD broom handle inserted as and when. See how he fares against Holloway tomorrow in a lively atmosphere.
Vol always has to have a target. Now CP has gone who is next in line...... The guy hasnt been in position for a week!
My betting is Alex Dyer for being a "Powell man" and influencing Riga. "It's all Dyers fault, he's useless, Riga shouldn't listen to him...blah, blah, blah". By the way, I hear YouTube, Twitter and Facebook are amalgamating. It'll be known as YouTwitFace.
vol's like one of them patio lights that comes on when you move. so my guessing is, the next person to speak publicly from cafc will get it. the insult will come in the form : object verb adjective so we could see something like "grapefruit munching bureaucrat" or "plant walking gipsy"....
I think he handled himself with immense dignity during his post match press conference, where every question was seemingly delivered to trip him up. The jury is out on him in terms of his management. But we have no choice but to give him a chance and get behind him as he is ultimately the man in charge of keeping us up.
SIG & Scratch Have you seen the O/S this morning, mates ? For the Bournemouth home game next week, the Club have changed the Red Red Robin run out tune, especially for fans like you. I hope you both approve of the replacement. It's the old classic by Nilssen... " I can't liiiiiiivvvvve.......if living is without YOU.......I can't live........I can't live without Sir Chris"
Not a bad shout. Dyer was responsible for the dropping of Cousins v Huddersfield. The lad must feel really great about himself right now. Brilliant in the centre, shunted out to the right by the Tactical Genius / Guardian Reader's Pin Up Boy.....and now dropped ! Still as long as we tick a few boxes, fulfil a few quotas, and get Tweets of approval from Jason Roberts, what does it matter?
i heard they were gonna fix the half time jackpot so you win... get invited on to the pitch to the tune of blurs charmless man...
http://www.insidefutbol.com/2014/03...n-charlton-managers-real-madrid-spell/131709/ So much for Jose knowing him...
Possible that he is indeed the self made up man - has anyone checked his pro licence? Or more than possible that the chosen one doesn't believe there is room for more than Jose in English Football
You are to modest Vol, the Belgians don't understand that we are not all from Petts Wood so have gone with the Chas and Dave classic in your honour. Since the only Pett that they could think of that the English would eat was Rabbit..........
Who are you dropping so Cousins can play through the middle? (Not rising to the rest it'll go in circles for weeks).
Thank you, LL. I have been quietly seething about this "error of playing Cousins on the right" BS for weeks. He is not being played as a right-winger. He is not even playing as a right-wing-back. He is being played on the right of a middle-three. I reckon Morrison appears near the right-hand touchline more often in games than Cousins does, and rightly so, but no-one is moaning because he is being played on the right of the CB pairing. Our squad is so short of competent players now that Solly, Kermorgant and Stephens have left the team that CP was obliged to play both Cousins and Poyet at once, although they are both best at DM. Had we signed a half-decent RB, instead of all the eurotrash, the solution would have been to play Wilson at RM (where he is better) and for Poyet and Cousins to share the DM role. It is very wrong to play such young players for match after match but what choice did CP have without weakening the team? Cousins was badly in need of a rest, and got one on Tuesday. He was not dropped, he was rested. He is well capable of playing a more attacking role (in effect replacing Stephens) and has just gone on record as saying he would like to develop as a "box to box" midfielder. He certainly has an eye for goal. With Poyet playing centrally as defensive midfield and Ajdarević further forward, the only vacancy is to the right, more or less mirroring Jackson on the left in a diamond shape. If Cousins' performance has fallen off lately it has little or nothing to do with him playing "on the right". It is mainly because he is tired after having to do a lot of legwork to make up for Poyet, Jackson and Ajdarević who all have limited mobility for different reasons (tactical caution, legacy of injuries, and lack of fitness respectively). To that add a general falling-off across the team as they realise that RD is asset-stripping and is making no attempt to replace the sold players. Hard work trying to win the ball back in midfield because our powder-puff attack cannot hold it up for long.
