Alonso reacts to Red Bulls performance: please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Raikkonen is definitely struggling with the car, the Williams cars were both hiding their potential as was atleast one of the Ferrari's. Redbull have a lot more to show I think. Mclaren and Mercedes are showing there pace outright it seems. Still a lot of unknowns on the whole though. Not much said about Force India, again I think Hulkenberg is going to be the best of the rest. Shame for Kobayashi and Ericsson would be good to see them in SP3 tonight. Feel bad for Lotus.
Its supposed to be a mix of English and Scottish but I'm being prepped for jaw surgery so I can't really talk properly. =)
Ahhhhhh... I thought you were a sexy German type for a second... Was wondering why you'd prefer Lewis to Nico! Best of luck with the surgery
WHile the Mercedes will be the quickest car, I don't think they'll have a smooth race to the finish. Inter-team rivalry or mechanical issues will make it a very entertaining race, and I think ultimately it'll be a complete lottery who wins. I've backed Alonso, purely because I think he's always in the mix, no matter what the package underneath him. The way everybody is talking about Red Bull after a couple of sessions before anybody has even begun trying, I find amusing. They were a good half a second off the pace still, and I think they'll be +1 second off in qualifying trim, maybe more in the race. While I'd back them to turn it around, and probs be challenging with the stupid last-race double pointer, I'm expecting some seriously mid-table performances from them for the first half of the season.
I think it's just the shock of them being where they appear to be after FP1, I doubt they'll be right at the sharp end, but I didn't expect them to have a realistic chance of Q3 for a few races, or collecting decent points either. It doesn't bode well for the others as you can bet your house on the renault engine vastly improving the first chance they get to upgrade it. Really disappointed (but not surprised) at Lotus and Caterham.
Forgot about the double points system, but putting that with Redbull improving very quickly towards the end, it may not bode well for fans of other teams. Good shout that Miggs.
I don't know what it is, but I feel the same, it just doesnt feel like in 36 hours we'll know the rough idea of the order. Maybe it's me getting old, maybe it's the lack of excitement from last year but it's something.
In 2013 I felt exactly the same towards the end of the season, getting old and that, but this year promises so much, the closer it gets to the race I know you will start to feel it.
The idea of Hamilton winning every single race really doesn't appeal to me for many reasons, chiefly because he's an arse.
