Of course we can. That exaxt squad less a few did win the title.

Liverpool saying they can win it is daft because it has no basis. United saying it is different as we have recent proof, about as recent as is possible in football. You couldnt get any more recent.

Spurs and liverpool are thick. im sure you agree.

Chelsea are taking FFP seriously so I doubt you will get them all. Well over 100million there.

Well yeah, I do agree on that :)
But that squad won a very sh!tty league, and you wont have that squad any more, its being decimated. (Vidic, Evra, Plus atleast half dozen others who will be dumped in the summer), Rio is past it. And now you have David Moyes in charge, not SAF.
It will be a completely different side, and until you know which players will make up that squad, I dont see how you can say they are good enough for the title. You are essentially saying that a squad that doesnt exist yet, will be good enough to win the league.

It would be like a guy saying his son is smart enough to be Prime Minister, when his son is still in his mothers womb.

Costa has a £32m release clause, luke shaw will probably go for £25m.

We have over 20 players on loan, we'll be able to come up with the funds. <ok> Lukaku, courtois already = £40-50m if we wanted to sell them (Not including the likes of Marin, Ba, Romeu, Bertrand, Moses etc.

    Yeah we will be okay.
I would have liked us to have been in a bigger stadium by now, but really you just have to trust that the owner knows what he is doing,

hehe UIR, I seem to be playing Devil's advocate to you in two simultaneous threads :)

City have a brilliant squad and decent manager. Next year will be even more stable and will surely strengthen.

Chelsea are a top striker away from a very very good team and we will surely go out this summer and get one.

So even disregarding Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs etc you have A LOT to do before winning the title again. Your current team doesn't look close and you manager doesn't look capable. If you change managers and bring in 3-4 very very good players you will be up there. With Moyes I can't see it. Either way, the days of United dominating are gone. You will win titles again but not at the rate under Fergie, history suggests it is just not going to happen.

Thats what I have been saying.
Some United fans seem to think they will spend £200m on a new squad and it will be business as usual ala the last 20 years.
United had a very unique situation with SAF that they no longer have.
Anything I say will come off as a WUM, but I have said so many times especially in the last 10 years when people wrote off United. "Never write em off, they will always be near the top whilst SAF is in charge", this season felt different, and for the first time in....ever....I had to concede that United would slip. And I was right.

This aint gonna be no easy task UIR, I think your club is in for a few hard years.

They wont strengthen at all. In fact they will weaken considerably in a desperate attempt to reduce costs.

Wrell we will have to agree to disagree.

United are starting from the top so a dip was inevitable ( never this bad though ). Chelsea and City started from lower down, the bottom in Citys case.

Chelsea needed £500million, City £1billion. £200million is about double what United need to go back to the top.

Theres also no evidence to suggest this isnt a blip however, United are more than capable of getting top 4 with the squad we have ( everybody had us down for 3rd this season based on the current squad, nobody could predict Moyes being so out of his depth ).

Can I just point out that in 2005 it was claimed ( not for the first time ) Uniteds days of dominating english football were over. People genuinely believed that. Fergie wasnt the powerful man he became again, the squad was terrible, far far worse than now....

I wont bore you with how that turned out as you know full well.

Also a much weaker side came from 7th/8th to challenging for the title the next season..........

Its wishful thinking on your part. You are not alone but thats all it is at the end of the day.

    Factually correct.

United at their best are better than all. Right now we are a million miles from our best. We are rubbish.

United's squad is not that bad. If Liverpool get CL next year they will struggle in two fronts and United will finish ahead of them

    And yours!

People said it in 2005 yes, but I didnt, I knew that it was only a matter of time, because I had seen Fergie do it many times before.
I havent seen Moyes do anything except scrape 4th one time.
SAF is the key factor here. HE rebuilt your team, time and time again. HE is no longer the manager.

Its not just a case of throwing millions of pounds at it and curing the problem.
Mansour bought City in 2008 and it took 4 years to win the title.
Roman has spent ridiculous sums and we have gone 3 years without a title now.
The money has to be spent wisely, and the correct management staff need to be put in place for it all to fall together.
The only thing Manchester United had going for it over these clubs, retired at the end of last season.
There is no reason at all to suggest you will win the title next season, thats bordering on Scouse type delusion imo.

Maybe I am underestimating the task ahead. Maybe you are over estimating.

The difference between United and the rest is we are starting from the top, we have to go down to go back up. We have tumbled but right now its a blip rather than the norm.

Lets see next season and what it brings. i suspect many of you will be eating humble pie, maybe i WILL ENJOY A SLICE WITH YOU ( REGARDING mOYES. ) BUT we shall see.

And yeh I hit caps, blame Suarez!
