Agree Jager, though I think the trust should bring some pressure to bare, we seem to be giving lip service to this once a year! We need to keep a Diary or thread on academy news and progress, one I think is worthy of a sticky!.............

Agree Phil, this is a vital thing for our club, I noticed when I was going through some of my threads looking for the liberty thread the number of academy threads I put up, I am still banging on about it 4 years on lol, how much time must we wait until its here, I am betting at another 4 years before academy status - which is a damned shame!

What exactly is the problem with Landore Cricket Club? Do they own the ground or rent from the council? Who has the final say in them moving? Can they be forced out, or do they have a lease and just don't want to move. Can't the academy be built elsewhere? Would be great to have it up and running though.

I think they lease it, but have certain legal rights due to the length of the lease, the only way to move them is to find them another place, that actually has been done, but it will take them a year to upgrade that to a level accepted by the wales cricket board or whoever governs them, so the argument is what to do with them in the meantime, think they have been offered a number of options including st helens but turned them all down.

Yes but how much debt would they have been in without the Academy? Really the £40m thing is mostly to hammam who should be locked up imo, there is no way they owe that much to his made up langstone

The Cardiff way is an academy, we are years behind them in this, and its a crying shame

It doesnt matter if and when we have an accademy as long as we have the same idiots running it. I hate to say it but ***iffs youth set up is miles in front of us. our scouting of kids is poor our coaching of kids is poor. We need to start right at the bottom and have a clear out of staff. Then we may start to identify young talent and then bringing them on and not lose anyone to that lot up the road.

99 with all due respect, you didn't make it clear you were referring to debt, but that said, Cardiff's debt issue has nothing whatsoever to do with they're Academy, matter of fact, if it were not for they're Academy producing young player sales, in the amount on average £5+ million annually, then they would have been in greater debt! But they have indeed set the example for us to follow! I also agree with TLF over getting professional people in.................

Jager, we do need an academy/ school of excellence. but we have to have the right people running them. the right people coaching our kids. This has to start with looking at all the youth coaches, who are simply not good enough. i have had first hand experience of them. get rid of them all. Start again and ensure they are top quality coaches, maybe ex players. Then we can move forward.

We need to ensure we have good youth scouts, out regularly watching local kids football. This just does not happen with the swans. My son has been approached on several occasions by ***diff and believe it or not bristol after being watched playing local football, he has refused point blank to even consider them. ***diff regularly attend at local kids football festivals. I have rarely seen scouts at these festivals. (occasionally).

We are a premier league club with a league 2 youth set up.

Lets start again and have our accademy. but guys make sure you get it right.
