My biggest frustration with them is that they don't seem to actually understand the problem they are trying to fix (and I'm not denying there is a problem). Take this cartoon I lifted off Occupy's Facebook group, showing 19th century type worker exploitation The fact that there are 10 plumbers in your area and there are no plumbing jobs is not the fault of a fat cat, it's the fault of market conditions, supply and demand - you provide a service that is over supplied so the value of your service is reduced, your wages are reduced by your lack of in-demand skills. The market, for the most part, works - and if your wages are going down it's likely the actual value of your skills are also going down... please log in to view this image
I was disagreeing with the feeble-minded generalisations you thick ****s were making. Oh I forgot, the uneducated ex-cop thinks he's a ****ing genius
Low wages paid to employees is not only down to saturation in the market for jobs. It's ****ing obvious that reducing the wage gap would do wonders for the economy, it's just greed and people with small penises that are breaking the system.
How do you propose to close the wage gap? You could try fixing wages, but British manufacturing disappeared because wages were artificially increased through the likes of Unionisation, to the point where companies just arbitraged their position by outsourcing their production to China. The Left in trying to be caring, and trying to help out the poor, ended up screwing the working class in the long term by making it much cheaper for companies to do business elsewhere.
Uneducated? There you go again Toby, a perfect example of your hubris. With just a couple of seconds work on a keyboard you have managed to show everyone what a truly self-obsessed wee creature you are. You are the one who calls everyone who dares disagree with you a "*****", the simple fact is that I've shat more intelligent objects than you. Compared to you i'm Einstein and Proust rolled into one.
You've done jobs that a ****ing trained monkey could do, you have nothing going for you. Your idea of winning an argument is boring the other person ****less, with lashings of hypocrisy thrown into the mix. Keep up the good work
And all low paid jobs are in manufacturing? Raising the minimum wage, bringing in caps on high earners and making pay more performance related, lower taxes on the poor and get people out of Tax credits/state aid by increasing tax on people who can afford it, nationalise industries that were sold off and create more stable jobs + take away money for investors, etc... I should be in charge
So why is it in countries like Norway have managed to unionise the vast majority of workers and still manage to weather the economic storm? Not only that but have a massive surplus of revenue? I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure Norwegian unions account for almost 25% of the population and not only that but they have a very good rate of pay. Therefore, I can only surmise that you are talking ****e.
Norway only has about 5 million people and over 50% of the country's exports is oil. The country is rich for the same reason the UAE is rich, only the Norwegian government had the very good sense to invest the money it was generating into a trillion dollar sovereign fund - and now, like an international capitalist organisation, their state is investing in businesses in every other country around the world and getting rent returns on their built up capital (the exact same way as super rich individuals are getting even richer). The last time the UK tried a highly Unionised work force and a much bigger welfare state it needed bailing out by the International Monetary Fund - leading to Thatcher getting in the door.
Yes. As does every Scandinavian country. They just don't bitch and moan about it as much as we do, although Romanian gypsies are especially hated as far as I could tell.
Have you asked many native Scandinavians about their view on immigrants? I seem to remember one in particular who wasn't too keen...
No, but its came up in conversation plenty of times. And yes I do know a few people from that corner of the world (mostly Finnish and Norwegians)
