So, Moyes or no Moyes, what are the expectations of United fans on here?

For me its a return to the top 4. No excuses at all. Top 4 is the very very minimum.

On the cup front the Europa is there for the taking. Moyes ( if here ) would do well to win that. Great experience.

With the numbers being banded about part of me says we should be winning the title next season but I'm going to be a little more reserved and go with top 4 and Europa League ( regardless of manager ).

Think winning the carling cup + a top 5 finish will be decent for united <ok>

Top 2 minimum for me, in fact, ££££, Routemaster and Arse are no better than last year, so UTD could and should win the league, if they buy the right players.

I agree, thats what I really want but I am staying grounded.

if United went about things the way we all know they can, we'd dominate the next 10 years of English football even with a 3 year old as manager.

however, top 4 would be a start and progress for Moyes ( not for the club, it would still be a bad season to finish 4th for manchester united ).

You haven't bought the right players so far though. You bought mata + fellaini, one who you didn't need and the other isn't good enough.

Return to top four (always assuming we don't yet make it this season!).

I did think that with the competition for the league not finishing top four this year would be acceptable on the condition there are new players bought and top four is reached the following year on the back of that. That remains the case.

Not concerned by winning the Europa league at all, a good run is good experience though I suppose but to do that you've all the group games.

Would rather win the FA cup than that. It's been too long really.

Ultimately though we have to be challenging to WIN the league, that's the real aim.

the FA cup would be great. Its been way to long.

Europa would be nice because it keeps us in the european frame of mind. Something I expect to see next season is Liverpool fall apart. They will have a ridiculous group as they are unseeded and they have a squad that is tiny. This is because of the lack of european football. Weve never won it either and it would be a pretty good thing for the manager ( whoever it is ) to win.

I think we are all agreed, we have to challenge for the title. Looking at the competition we should be more than capable if we remember who we are.

Hopefully there will be millions of very angry football fans next season. Angry that we've made them look like idiots ( wouldnt take much )

Dont forget Europa winners next year gets Champions League

So Premier league would have 5 teams qualifying if Europa winners came from our league

    Yeah obviously <doh>

I think you getting Europa will hinder you, so want you to get it. But then you might win it........but without it you have a clear run at the league to get back into top 4 . So its a catch 22 situation really

But why everyone considers Europa a hindrance and CL not is beyond me really. Same recovery time in between matches

I suppose CL is the comp to be in and where you want to see your team at

United dont consider either a hindrance. Thats why we have won 2 CL and PL double while no other PL club has come close.

Others may suffer because they dont manage their squads and time very well ( another SAF strength here ) but United never did. We went full pelt for both ( and often the domestic cups ) year after year.

To hope to romp back up to the title is ludicrous to be honest.
To say other teams havent improved is f**king stupid aswell.
Chelsea alone are 10 points better off now than they were this time last season.
You will really have to wait and see what signings you make before you can predict, and whether Moyes is still your manager. Same with Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Liverpool.
UIR do you now think Moyes has what it takes to get you back in the title hunt if he makes some decent signings, its just that you have been pretty vocal about how s**t he is.....

For me, as a non United fan, I cannot say!
It really could go either way. I still maintain that if any team from the top 4 is ousted, be it by you, Spurs, Everton or whoever, that team will be Arsenal or possibly Liverpool, like you say, because of the added stress of European football for them next year.
Chelsea and City seem firmly entrenched thanks to our £££.

If United get a decent manager and spend £100-150m on new players, which it looks like you will have to, then you will probably challenge, but wholesale changes usually need time to bed in. You cant expect a new manager to re build your entire squad and work miracles in his first season. Its possible, but chances are he wont.

If you keep Moyes then...well, he really needs to make the right signings and buck his ideas up.

No i believe United have what it takes. It helps because the rest of you are so poor anyway and at our best we are better than all.

I dont think so UIR, not with these players.
You won the league last year, but Chelsea and Liverpool especially are an entirely different animal from last years teams and will likely only improve further.
United have gone backwards, and will have to essentially change half their squad, and trust that Moyes makes the right signings, and that they all bed in.
Might be too much to ask to win the title next year, top 4 yes....but title....not sure.
The season after that, who knows.

Top 4 minimum. we are good enough to win the title, we should be competing this season. The rest of you are pretty average tbh.

chelsea have improved as have Liverpool ( helps having just 40 games ). the rest are about the same. Weve been awful but its against the norm for us. It must be considered a one off at this time.

next season I expect top 4, I feel the title is possible. Infact I will be disappointed if we dont push for it.

Thats my point, you cant say that.
Your current squad isnt, and without knowing which signings you will make, how on earth can you next seasons squad IS good enough to win the title.
You could end up signing **** players! Would think not, but look at Liverpool and Spurs in recent times, both splashed large amounts of money on total ****, like Carroll, Soldado, Downing, Lamela etc)

City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea will all strengthen. We'll hopefully get Costa, Shaw and a DLP to play alongside Matic and our team will be complete.
