I also don't see us getting any more than 33/34 points and staying up by the skin of our teeth. Checking on the remaining fixtures I would expect Palace. Cardiff and Stoke to reach a maximum of 29 points ensuring our safety. Really? For our sake I'd like to agree with you, but do you honestly think 2 points is the maximum they can expect from... Sunderland (a) Newcastle (a) Chelsea (h) Cardiff (a) Villa (h) West Ham (a) Man City (h) Liverpool (h) Fulham (a)
jeez i didn't realise palace had such a tough run in, especially home fixtures that said they've fulham, sunderland and cardiff to play away
How often does any manager? First day of the season if you are lucky...You do talk some absolute twaddle on occasion David. I'd follow up with a headslap but the icon just wasn't big enough for my liking.
Melchy - Although I don´t particularly appreciate having my work labelled in that way, I ´d still quite like to know why you think it so. What is there in what I wrote that is actually either unfair or untrue, or being dressed up as something it isn´t, as far as I can see, very little if anything at all. 1. Certainly many fans, yourself included, are discontent at how the season has panned out 2. I can show you the aforementioned poll if you have any doubt 3. The majority of outside onlookers can´t understand the aggro against Hughton 4. There is clearly a proportion of supporters who can find nothing good to say about him at all, and for some, even him being decent is a fault 5. Perhaps my expectations are on the low side, but many fans have expected us to do better, and because we haven´t, seem to want to find someone to blame, to justify their disappointment, rather than perhaps admit that their expectations might have been a bit too high to begin with 6. Players have made more than their fair share of mistakes, and pretty much got away with none of them 7. We have been hit hard by long term injuries to key players at key times, and often several at the same time 8. There is very little doubt that fans discontentment at Hughton has not gone unnoticed by the players, and has had an effect on their performances, as several player interviews calling for fans to lay off, have shown and finally, nowhere do I name any names, I never have done and I never will, none of my comments are aimed at anyone personally, in fact none of my comments are even aimed solely at Norwich ´not 606´ers´, they´re aimed at Norwich supporters in general.
I always remember one of my late Mother's favourite sayings, "There are none so blind as those who will not see!" I think that pretty much nails it!
what are you on about David? really? im not talking about which players were out, nor am i for a second saying they aren't important players...im saying that very, very rarely will any manager have his full compliment of players. maybe you are onto something about intelligence.
Why do so many seem so discontent Dire football and for every glimmer of improvement there have followed at least one step back At how this year so far´s panned out, Points wise and position no really complaint, hoped for more but worries persist The bottom half existence that we have spent Was surely never much in doubt Never much true, hope was minimal of 10th but there none the less I remember doing a pre-season poll To predict where we´d end the show, And 55 % then thought that our goal Would be eleventh spot or below No argument Ten percent actually thought fourteenth place Would be the best we would achieve, And just keep ourselves clear of the trapdoor race To earn yet one more year´s reprieve No argument So surely the fifteenth where we are right now Is staying pretty much to form, No argument, just the manner of it Especially as it is so tight, as we knowWith it so tight it does feel like a series of missed oportunities With many still close to the storm Football scribes and gurus throughout the land Have nothing but good things to say, This is where I seriously disagree, whilst a little bit of a CH love in persists seemingly because he's nice, this is tempered by growing critisism from pundits, journalists and bloggers About Hughton the coach, and his magic wand And how he can get teams to playIf anyone is still being positive I'm not reading those articles, and if they thought he had a wand, he may wish to have cunjoured a few more goals! Players too, back him right up to the hilt I think virtually every condemned manager has had outward backing from players, this along with chairmen votes of confidence, look at those who have left or want to leave, not complimentary! These players want to be playing, to challenge for world cup places too. With very few mutinous signs, Giving their all until they drop and wilt With clearly no conflict of minds There all does not seem to be cutting it, this is both a player failing and the managers, but to often heads have dropped and I'm not quite convinced everything has been left out there! All could be rosy, and yet it is not Amongst a vast portion of fans, Come on how can it be rosy? We are often dire, unlucky, relegation threatened, more collapsable than a very aged deckchair. Who, looking for redeeming features, can spot None at all in this decent man Still I can see some positives, you don't keep 10 clean sheets by luck alone, its these comments though where you would attempt to paint anyone as completely unreasonable and incapable of seeing anything but what there eyes wish to see! So why, I keep asking myself every week Is so much of what Hughton does, Ridiculed by those whose support he seeksSimply a loss of patience! Patience is all relative of course and you might argue that near 2 seasons is simply to little time to judge, but after some encouraging work (defensive and in the transfer market) its not only stagnated but to many it seems clear we are going backwards. And who could give the players a buzz Now hears the thing, fans need inspiring too, I agree the lack of supportive noise is not going to inspire the players, but its been a long hard insipid slog to crush the CR spirit His style contra Lambert has been mentioned oft As has his quite cautious approach, Yet Villa are but two points better off And that´s with a ´world-class´ coach But Lambert is also getting flack from his own fans, I do not watch enough of their games to presume an answer like those dull gordies, I can't imagine that the football is worse to watch though and I'll wager by entirely flawed measure they have a higher up the MOTD average schedule to support that point Is it just because those full of Norfolk fare When, if the times should become lean, Find it hard to accept the cupboard is bare And things not as good as they´ve been No, its that I don't accept that Hughton can take us forward, on the contrary I think he is taking us backwards and is far to limited to manage at this level Expectancy has naturally played a part And some may well have felt let down, Actually expectancy was not high after last seasons dross, the finishing position whilst earnt by points on the board felt flattering to the extreme, but who doesn't feel let down by the very many lows this season? But levels for some have been well off the chart Unrealistically high as they´ve found Not really, again as a small fish you know you will occasionally get tonked, occasionally lose when you might of deserved a win, but under our esteemed leader we've had our belly tickled to often Mistakes by some individuals too Have cost us dearly every time, Some teams can make them, so nobody knew But ours have been verily landmines No arguments, but I would criticise the seeming immunity of certain players to being dropped irrespective of errors and more desturbingly form And injuries, yes, it´s all part of the game But they´ve followed us all the way, Dogging our footsteps and keeping us lame To spoil any flow in our play All teams get injuries and yes we have had it as bad as anyone this season, but he has still abjectly failed to deal with ours. To be fair to him, we have played our best football when we have approached full strength in centre mid in particular, but that still does not yield goals or enough chances against anyone but Cardiff I know we have debated this all before So in´ers or out´ers be kind, But here I am, still struggling to fÃnd the core Of why Hughton´s still so maligned. OTBC
See I struggle to find why anyone would continue to believe in him? Appologies if the horse excrement caused offense, it looked to me like another spark chucked into the haystack to restart the CH slagging merrygoround, and in fairness it has! Bah!
But Dave apart from Carrabuh we all started out reasonably happy to get Hughton, but we have all seen! and you remain blind to his inadequacy to perform. as you say pretty much nails it!
See I struggle to find why anyone would continue to believe in him? Appologies if the horse excrement caused offense, it looked to me like another spark chucked into the haystack to restart the CH slagging merrygoround, and in fairness it has! Bah!
Thank you - that will take some digesting, so digest I will, but I wil just say that the thread in itself is harmless, and could never start a CH slagging merry-go-round, only the posters themselves can do that, but in all honesty I can´t see that there has been much slagging going on.
GM, from my side of the fence, we are pretty much where I expected us to be, the football style has slowly improved, not enough yet but our luck, both on the field and with endless injuries has been total pants! I remain convinced we have the right manager and he will get my full support, not confidence-draining ridicule that many seem intent on supplying!
Does anyone happen to know how many weeks we have spent in the bottom three under the current management? Pretty sure I'd be able to count them on one hand, and even some of those are going to be very early in the season before the dust settles. Considering his remit for both last season and this was to keep us out of the bottom three, I find it difficult to understand how people can brand him "inadequate".
