OT- The 2014 Holiday Thread

Long time since I was in Munich, Paris is an easy hop with direct flight from Newcastle to CDG, as Lady E says not the cleanest of cities and what struck me the most was the amount of grafity particularly on the train ride in from CDG to Gare du Nord, plus side though is the Metro, if you get a Metro map and tourist map you can link the 2 together and whizz around the sights dead easy, much as with the underground in London. It helps if you can speak some French as they can be a bit funny with us, street cafes are quite expensive in the tourist areas so I usually get coffee and bottles of water from MacDonalds easily half the price, probably the only time I use Macdonalds is in Europe cause you can get a big mac meal deal with a beer, last time in Paris if I remember correctly this was under 15 Euros for 2 of us.

 

The French tend to talk rather funny, I have a bit difficulty making them out sometimes.

The last time I was in Milan I didn't see any Mackems.

 

What relation is your girlfriend ?

Typical Mackem assuming it's his sister.... proof that it is clearly front of mind.

 

If anyone just fancies a short quick break from Newcastle, you can do a lot worse than Malaga.

Easyjet fly straight there, there's a Metro at the airport that takes you straight into the centre of town and it's a lovely little city. Most people who fly in head straight for the costa but Malaga's got plenty to offer for 3 or 4 days.

 

that's interesting. Never considered it as a city break but will have a bit look at that.

Switzerland is a favourite of mine. My brother lives there so I love to visit.

There's lots of places in the North / North East, of natural beauty to visit.

Middleton-in-Teesdale.

Bowlees.

You can go to Gibsons Cave, the Wynch Bridge over the River Tees, the rapids at Low Force and the High Force waterfall.

Lots of good photo's to be taken.
