Ok then tell your son ive been going for 45 years and no they have not won the league title and nor do i think they will in the near future but i ain't going to stop going.
maybe your sons sights are too high and as gbsafc4eva says tell him to support Barca. Well untill they start losing then he can jump on another successfull ship

Cheers Syd mate, it seems my uncanny knack in bringing the best out of people is still there.
He even has fair points about the games he mentions, doesn't alter my view for the majority of the season we were ****e.
Tactically inept and substitutions that had the most ardent happy clapper scratching their heads. <ok>

    Mackemsrule.

Season of 2 halfs though. And we played ****e second half because we had ****e players. Injuries cost us, surely you can see that?

No way am I a happy clapper. When I'm at games, we play bad with no effort, I wouldn't dare clap and would most likely boo. But when you get home and calm down you look at the bigger picture, and 10th place with a depleted squad, it's not criminal is it?

and why should I stay out of it, what does me being a mod have to do with it, when did I say I was god, when did I say you cant say what you like.

I lik to think that Sunderland fans can talk, debate and even argue without resorting to clueless twat, just my opinion but it makes you look childish, foolish and quite thick.

can anyone else hear Big Chris?

Does my having supported the team longer than you make me more knowledgable?
    No!
Does your having supported the team 33 years longer than my son give you the right to tell him what to do?
    No!

Does my son after only 10 years of support have the right to voice his opinion?
Yes it ****ing does, even if he only went for the last 10 games he has the right to voice an opinion.
If you want to try to be condescending to me, please do so on one of my other **** posts as your argument will hold more water.

See, i don't buy into the fact that young 'uns can't get gripped to the club if it's not in Europe line.

I'm 31, i started going in '87, and i was hooked, instantly by the whole aura of the match, i'd never give up my season ticket, even though i live in Spain now, and i'll never give up live football, i'm now a dual season ticket holder, as i have a Malaga CF one as well!

I think the thing that doesn't hook people is the lack of atmosphere, not the side.

When i was a young lad at the game, i used to gawp in awe at the variety and volume of songs from the Fulwell, me and my schoolmates used to argue over what the right words where etc, and then, as you got older, you joined in, then you started the chants then, as a main stand Roker winger, you used to try and get your section to outsing the Fulwell.

Now the ground is 75% quiet, so that element of fascination is gone.

The team for 5 years after i started going were absolutely horrific, my first top flight season was 1992, and we were promptly back down.

I don't think the team is the be all and end all of the matchday experience, the lads that will go every week regardless need to get the passion back into the whole ground, the banter in the Clockstand was hilarious at times, then when i moved to the MSRW, we all knew every face, we sang together, it was class.

Now, you sit and listen to people moaning about every single error, it's ****ing tragic.

I sit in a heavily season ticketed area, and we used to be loud, now half the stand spends more time fiddling with their ****ing mobiles.

Unbelievable that I the advocate of free speech and everyone should be allowed an opinion, even Big Chris when he wasn't spouting his racist drivel.
Should bring out the worst in someone.
    What the hey! :p

    Syd

I was talking to Mackems rule, not you. He didn't say nothing to me about it. Why do you have to? No one else has. Just getting involved. I don't care what you think about what I said because it wasn't to you, so why comment on it? Weird

Mentioned this ages ago if you recall, about my son and his mates jumping up and screaming and shouting after a goal or a close thing. And then being told to sit down and shut up by grown men sitting there having their Saturday afternoon ruined with the noise.

I live in Elviria mate, about 4 miles east of Marbella, it's beautiful here, i absolutely love it and i've only been here 2 weeks!

Wasn't aware of an official supporters bar, but i'll sure check it out, canny hike to Benalmadena from here mind!

You live out here?? Might be handy to know a fellow SAFC man for matchdays, it's all West Ham round here!

Yeah I live in puerto banus, marbella. so not far away at all from you. Benalmadena is about 45 minutes away. But the bar is brilliant, get the game on every week and good atmosphere. Serve grub up at half time too!

Is it any wonder the SoL lacks atmosphere when you have so many of here criticising the team and then when you pull them about it they say "when I'm watching the lads the get 100% support" - well the lack of atmosphere suggests otherwise.

With this carping about Bruce and the team we are sleepwalking ourselves into discontentment.

Have you never hear the term "self fulfilling prophecy" well that is what is going to happen here, the bleating on the boards by the usual holier than thou suspects will affect how they support the club at the SoL, especially as there discontent will fester over the close season.

I do not agree with the "Clueless twat" comment, however I have seen others use far stronger insults and not get so much as a slap on the wrist - I have discussed this with a Mod and was assured there are no favourites - we are all equal.

Well it appears some are more equal than others and here is another example.

Leave it Syd, he know more than I ever will about football.

Just showed my son this thread and he is still laughing as he puts his coat on!
Just asked him where he is going in the rain.
    Out!
    Where is out?
    Just out! :)
