Haway boys & girls, let's help these lads. https://www.change.org/en-GB/petiti..._medium=email&utm_campaign=51328&alert_id=odr
Is this the same six lads? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ship-carrying-huge-cache-illegal-weapons.html albeit the Daily Fail
So they are Mercenaries? Good coin in that Billy lad, much better than what the ****e goverment will ever pay you. Run the risks, pay the price.
Private soldiers to protect shipping from the growing pirating problem would surely be a more accurate discription of them.
Sorry mate, i'll stand by my original words. These guys know what they are doing, and what they are heading into. It's all about the coin..
Wouldn't say they were 'Mercenaries' as we know them mate, they've done their bit for Queen and Country and now trying to make an honest living with the skills that they've got. I work in Africa and just about every vessel down here has some form of security on board, usually in the shape of an ex soldier or soldiers depending on the size of the vessel. They're not mercenaries, just regular lads like you and me trying to earn a living.
Haway you two, it's me man, and the three of us know fine well, ok i'll give you jumped up ARMED security guard bit. But it's basically the same. It's well paid, because of the risks, remember Ken Bigley? Just an oil worker (for the coin, wrong place wrong time, horrific video) I wish them alll well, i really do, but as we know, life can be a risk.
Lol, I was on about a job in engineering which I done for a good few years. My fighting days are well over marra.
It's a younger mans game alright, but experience counts for a lot. Sat on a boat, ain't like running around like a daft **** in the desert or jungle, paying peanuts. Plus they get the best gear....get some....some ****ing topper gear out these days, not like the usual ****e.
TBH Comm, all the lads I've met down here in Nigeria are not exactly earning mega bucks, I think the going rate is anywhere between $300 & $400 a day if they're on for a good firm. I've heard of some who are only picking up $150 - $200 but they tend to be yarpies (South Africans) but I think that is relatively decent money for them guys.
They all do sound like the dreggs of the barrel, highly high end. Guess they have to start somewhere.
I haven't a clue what they are earning elsewhere in the world, but this is classed as one of the most volatile of the oil regions in the world so i'd be expecting better money than that for putting my life on the line. After all, they are front line so they get it first.
With day-to-day expenses paid for and tax free dollars paid directly into overseas accounts, earning 3,000-5,000 pounds a month? You can set yourself up, well before you're old and knackered with that kind of cash
